Petrified Passenger

Hi everyone, hoping someone can give me some advice. As my username says, I'm a petrified passenger, I know it's irrational, I've never been in a car accident (God willing I won't ever be) my husband is a good driver, albeit in my opinion, too fast. We are going on holiday at the end of September which is over 300 miles away and I'm already starting to have anxiety to the point, I want to cancel! But if I let this control me I'll never go anywhere, even a 5 mile car trip makes my heart race. I have three daughters who all drive and every time they go out in their cars I watch them on Find Friends to make sure they get to where they're going and back home again. I think I need the Speakmans! I'm trying to think of something to calm me down on the day but there are so many on the market I'm not sure what to choose, can anyone recommend anything?

Have you considered hypnotherapy? It was a great help for my friend who was very anxious about flying.

I was going to suggest this.

Being anxious about someone who drives too fast is totally rational.

I hate being a passenger or driving. I never was a confident driver and would only drive locally, but I was fine as a passenger. Then on the way home from my Mum's funeral a long trailer went into the side of us, I could see it was going to happen - it was like slow motion. Not a huge amount of damage but now I am convinced people are going to go into us from the side. I had hypnotherapy but it didn't help me unfortunately. I have also taken a course to build driver confidence, he said my driving was fine but I am still afraid. My husband no longer enjoys driving and we use a train or coach for long trips which I am happy with. Smart motorways terrify me. I wish I could suggest something helpful, but I can totally relate to your feelings
