Is anyone able to tell me if you can buy a Swiss Roll, or something that looks the same, in the US? And what it is called?
TIA.

Not that I’ve found.

They have ice cream cake

Thenose · 04/08/2024 14:28

I believe it's called "jelly roll" or "cake roll" in the US.

A typical Swiss Roll doesn’t have ice cream in it.

You're right I was thinking of Artic roll.

Thanks, everyone. I will research jelly roll, and cake roll. The Little Debbie's ones look to be single serve ones, and covered in chocolate. I want one that is family sized, and probably without the chocolate.

Cake roll according to Pinterest.

If it's for yourself, they are dead easy to make. And you get to choose the flavour for the jam/ buttercream/ whatever in the middle. X

It isn't for me, it is for my DD, who lives in NY. She has a Colin the Caterpillar cake making kit (for the face, and the feet) which she wants to fix to a Swiss roll covered in chocolate. I have been tasked with finding the Swiss roll!

Correct - they are not what you’re looking for. Honestly I think she’s going to have to make it herself but if you do find where she can buy them I’d love to know because I could murder a nice Swiss Roll.

You can buy them at the store if she asks for a jelly roll cake. I have bought them in the past and they are sickly sweet (well the one I got was) I think I was in Safeway, which is Vons on the east coast, also Albertsons Kroger and Ralphs are all the same company apparently.
