I'm a bit worried ds it taking advantage of me. But I could be wrong.

Ds gets 405.40 a month due to pip. He sent me a screen shot saying I have only paid him 206.60 . He said I need to give him 22.60 daily until he gets pip again on the 2nd Aug. But his screen shot he sent me says money in from the 10th when I started giving him money from the 5th .

Can someone help me work it out. I have hand written the amounts from. The 5th . And also included ds screen shot.

I have learning difficulties so I find this stuff hard and ds is just over talking me and getting very stroppy and boarding on aggressive. So then I can't sort anything out .

He's also getting 58.00 a week of his social worker . Its his money regardless but I don't want to be giving him more money than he should be getting.

All that adds up to about £418. Maybe you need to have a better system with him, that makes it easier for you both to track and manage.

NoSquirrels · 26/07/2024 12:22

Are you transferring him money every day?

BobbyBiscuits · 26/07/2024 12:23

Is it a case that you are the custodian of his PIP, and to help him manage his finances you give him a daily amount out of his own money?
Sorry, I'm trying to work out why you are being told to give him money.
The system as it stands seems like it's confusing to you, so is there a way of simplifying things?

Bjorkdidit · 26/07/2024 12:25

Is the money paid to you to pass on to him? What money did you get and what did you send to him? Is the agreement between you two that he keeps all this money or should you be keeping some of his to cover his keep (food, any other expenses you pay on his behalf?).

Has he only just started getting this money and you've sent him all that you've received or has he been getting it for a while. That screenshot does say that he has received £206, but that alone doesn't say whether you should have given him more money.

Was this account open before 10th July? Can he show you what he recevied from 5th July?

Is it possible for him to receive the money directly, so you're not involved in him getting his money?

Andwegoroundagain · 26/07/2024 12:32

This seems very confusing way to give him money? Can you organise to give him the same amount every day?
In any case the numbers don't add up
Per your paper notes: you have transferred him £235.20 between the 11th and 26th July
His screenshot says £206.20 so you maybe have made a mistake in your paper notes?
You also transferred him £177.50 prior to the 10th which makes £412.70 total per your notes. Or 383.70 per his notes.

You need a proper tracker I think

Can you look at your banking app and select transfers to him?

This has confused me more ... the screen shot if his account seems to be saying I gave him money from the 10th? I think that's what it means . But i gave him money from the 5th the first patient is for 155.00 then all the rest up till today .

OP his screen shot shows transfers since the 10th of July. It's not showing what he had before then. So since the 10th of July he's had £206.20

However you transferred him £177.50 before the 10th so you need to tell.him to look at his banking app again and change the dates to show everything since the 1st July.

1apenny2apenny · 26/07/2024 12:59

Agree with others - why is he getting all this money and what is he doing with it. I appreciate it's to support him with his care needs - is he using it for this or are you having to pay out extra for him and he's just wasting it?

How old is he? Surely if he was the right age the money would be coming to him directly and not you. Can you sit down with his social worker and plan out his the money is allocated and used?

But he's trying to say I Need to give him 22.00 daily until the 2nd od Aug. Then his pip is paid again. That does not seem right

How do you give him money?

If it is by bank transfer, you can show him how much you have transferred in July fron
your own banking app.

Hugesunflower · 26/07/2024 13:12

How old is he? Can he manage his own money or does he need support?

What is HIS PIP supposed to cover? I know it covers various things but what help is he buying in with it?

VanCleefArpels · 26/07/2024 13:13

Is there a reason why he doesn’t have his own bank account / receives his benefits himself OP?

If you do need to set up some kind of regular payment from your bank - this is very easily done and automatic so this kind of argument won’t arise again

This is not what my post is about . I simply want to work out If I'm giving him the right money . I feel like im giving him more that what his pip is . Because of my learning difficulties I can't work it out . Explaining what he spends it in his not going to help me work it out.

He needs to show you the starting balance on 5th July. Not 10th July.

PatriciaHolm · 26/07/2024 13:14

It's because he's set the app to show payments in from the 10th, but you did pay £177.50 before that that month according to your notes.

So you have paid him a total of £383.70 this month, the £206.20 he's got showing in the app plus the £177.50 paid in before that. If he resets the date for the "starting balance" to July 3rd it should show that.

That means he's got £21.70 total left for you to give him this month.

BleachedJumper · 26/07/2024 13:15

you say he gets 405 a month pip, is that an annual averaged out monthly payment on the same day every month, or is it 4 weekly? If you know it’s an averaged equal amount that comes to your account on the 5th of every month, then it’s £13.12 a day he should be getting I think.

How old is your son?

Hugesunflower · 26/07/2024 13:16

If his PIP is paid on the second of the month and you want to transfer him the money daily then the daily amount will be different over different months because some may only have 28 days while others will have 31 days.

Helpplease46 · 26/07/2024 13:17

Can people please just help me work out if i still owe him money ? Or If he actually owes me money . Its basically a maths question that I can't do myself.

Asking me what he spends it on. Why I'm his appointee etc etc is not helpful. It does not give me the answers to the math question i have asked.

He gets it every 4 weeks. July payment was on the 5th... August will be on the 2nd .

Between the 5th of July till 26th July he's had all the payments that I have hand written ( I copied it from my bank app)

That's what I thought to thank you . I don't understand. Why he's trying to say I have to give him 22.60 every day till the 2nd when his pip is due again.

@PatriciaHolm has answered the question.
The problem i had is that the amounts you put on paper are not all accurate I think.

Quite simply this month you have already given him £383.70 .

Therefore if you give him £21.70 more then that is the full PIP allowance of £405.40 until the next PIP payment in Augst

BrumToTheRescue · 26/07/2024 13:26

If you are having difficulty managing money like this, is there someone else who could become DS’s appointee? If not, you could ask the social worker about a corporate appointee.

The amounts you have written down total more than DS’s 4 weekly PIP payment. However, the amount you say you have paid into DS’s account since the 10th doesn’t match up with the amount the screenshot from his account says has been paid into his account since the 10th. So it is probable you have made a mistake somewhere.

Thank you. The paper one should be right as I copied it from my bank app.

But either way I only owe him 21.70 not 22.60 a day

That's the thing its not from the 10th it's from the 5th. That's what makes me think he's messing with me .

Aa someone a few messages ul said if he sets his account to the 5th we would probably come up with the same amount.

so he gets 405.40, every 4 weeks. 28 days = £14.48 per day.

where was the £22 figure coming from?
