I just mixed some stuffing (paxo - nothing fancy) for this evening's dinner, and then decided to make a cup of tea. While it was brewing, I picked up the spoon and was about to lick it... and then realised at the very last millisecond that I'd picked up the other spoon on the side. The one which I had used a few minutes earlier to dish up the cat food.😂

Please tell me I am not the only person who does this sort of thing!

Both spoons were side by side next to the sink. I didn't put either of them in the sink because I was multi-tasking, and soaking a houseplant in a bowl of cold water at the time.

This is why! I would do exactly the same so I’ve learned that if I don’t remove it from the possibility of reaching for it I might just do that when my brain is occupied 🤢

Meanwhile, back in the real world... another cat-related one.

DH very kindly brings me a cup of tea in bed every morning, and one day he was down in the kitchen rather a long time. When he finally appeared with the tea, he apologised and said that he'd made it, but then realised he'd used cat milk in it by mistake, so had thrown it away and made me another. What he didn't tell me at first, but finally admitted, was that he'd only realised after he'd taken a sip of his own tea and though it tasted a bit odd.😂

It is not as bad as some but I have on more than one occasion recently (like you when I’m distracted) made a coffee for myself only to realise on first sip I hadn’t boiled the bloody kettle.

so basically I just poured cold water in and then left it to cool! I’ve no idea how I don’t notice until i actually put it to my mouth!

Thank you OP this is just what I needed to read 🤣 we’re in a stationary traffic jam in the M5 - we were heading the Bristol.

That's what microwaves were made for.

No, I've never made a cup of coffee with cold water, not me

Horrid road, that.

I made my brother in law a coffee with beef gravy instead of coffee granules.

I noticed as I was stirring it though so just made him an actual coffee and didn't say anything. They'd have taken the piss for weeks. 😁

I blame my husband for never putting shit away. Gravy sat next to the kettle first thing in the morning. I'm surprised I even noticed.

Edited

Reminds me of a time at work when I made drinks for the team. One person had OXO as she hated tea and coffee. Yes, you’ve guessed…..I put sugar in it automatically with the teas and didn’t notice! She did! 😙
