Changing amalgam fillings to white?

Has anyone done this recently, if so were your dentist quite receptive to doing it? How much did you pay per tooth?

Most of my molars were filled in my childhood/teens. Most are amalgam but I do have 2 or 3 white ones done in the 6th form ("the NHS is paying," said my dentist, "might as well do white.") I've not had any fillings or replacements since, so the newest is at least 34 years old. I do go to the dentist regularly (dentist was March, hygienist in May,) and they say they're sound, and I've not noticed any issues, so I don't see any reason to disturb them. The white ones are quite discoloured now, but still lighter than the amalgam ones.

This is reassuring as most of my bottom molars were filled in my teens! And I’m only in my 30s x

@GentleSloth I had six done. All molars. My dentist was very supportive, and agreed with my thoughts.

update - wow I’ve just had a root canal done today and the tooth has been filled with permanent white filling as opposed to amalgam and wow the difference is amazing!
