Tell me about tooth whitening options

I don’t think mine are particularly any worse than a typical 30-something but I’d definitely like to improve them, especially for a big birthday. I’d like to use a ‘proper’ option as I’ve used home strips before and not really had much success.

My dentist offers take home kits and an in-practice option. Both are several hundred pounds but the in-practice option is twice the home kit cost.

I’ll live without red wine but I’m fucked if I’m giving up coffee. I don’t want Hollywood day glo results, just Very Nice ‘normal person’ level.

Help appreciated…

I've done the zoom home kit. He gave me it for £200, but I think it's usually more. It does make some difference, but it's quite uncomfortable. It makes my teeth so sensitive afterwards it wakes me up in the night. Just the air touching my teeth hurts! The one I had was only for an hour a night.
I'm going back on weds to see him but I'm not thinking it's worth more than what I paid for it, results wise. I do smoke though. And my teeth were pretty yellow to start with. I'm in my mid 40s, smoked for 30 yrs. 😬
Hope this helps!

I had Enlighten which is partly at home and with a final session done at the dentist.

I think it costs about £600, but then you have the moulds and can buy gel to top up.

My results were really good. Took my teeth from standard British dingy to a natural looking white.

Once a year I do a top up with a ‘stronger than the dentist offers’ peroxide gel which I buy on Amazon. It only takes 30 mins.

@BobbyBiscuits that is mildly terrifying (sorry)! How awful.

That sounds similar to my dentist’s home option. How long did it take? Did you have a problem with sensitivity?

@TubeWhine haha, honestly it's not that bad. No pain no gain, lol. I don't regret doing it.

@TubeWhine I've just been given a new one, with 16% peroxide that I have to wear all night. Lol. The last one was only 6%. Wish me luck.
I reckon wearing it at night might be better as it doesn't hurt while wearing it, just makes it really sensitive after. Which is bareable if I'm awake.
