Anyone remember this book I read at secondary school?

We studied it in English when I was about 13, 40 years ago! It was about a bloke who travelled back in time to when some women were being tried as witches.

He saved the day by going back in time on his motorbike and scaring everyone.

That's all I can remember! Does it ring any bells for anyone? I keep thinking of it.

The Devil on the Road by Robert Westhall (might not be the right surname but its something like that).

Glad I could help. We didn't read it at school but I found it in the library and loved it. I am from that area and so lived the references to local places. I reread it as an adult a few years ago and recommended it to my son but he wasn't interested
