Love a nice coffee in a morning but can't be arsed messing, any recommendations for a nice strong instant?

Oooh and the Azera comes in offer regularly (maybe monthly?) in supermarkets so you potentially save a couple of quid. I never buy it at full price, but stock up when it's on offer.

Gold blend espresso is unbeatable!

Pigeonqueen · 16/05/2024 10:23

Costa medium roast is amazing. It’s often on offer half price in Tesco so very reasonable too.

Yes, but the pods. I couldn't stand the eco-guilt so the machine (it was free) is going to the charity shop.
I know there is some recycling scheme but the pods shouldn't really exist in the first place.

Yes you are probably right. I use compostable pods but still not ideal.

Right so I have some
Morrisons bags strength 6 and they're pretty ok! I've ordered some of this too and will report back!

This one! The dark roastery one is my fav and I'm very fussy about instant! I used to love Blend 37 and was gutted when they stopped making it.

loobylou10 · 16/05/2024 11:34

It's usual price is around 5.50/6.50 but Google and it's always on offer for 3.50 somewhere.

Agreed. I really like it, but then I am a coffee philistine.

Cafe Direct Machu Picchu instant fooled me recently (and I never knowingly drink instant coffee). Expensive, but very good.

This one!

Crinkle77 · 16/05/2024 16:00

Agree Azera is nice but I do find it a bit weak and a teaspoon isn't enough so have to put extra in.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/05/2024 23:56

Azera Americano I always stock up wherever it's on offer
Nescafé Alta Rica is gorgeous, fits your brief, but not on offer very often

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 20/05/2024 04:50

This one wins so far! Lovely and strong and I don't need three spoons worth just one!

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants try Illy instant. I get mine on Ocado but I think Waitrose sells it too. I’m very fussy about instant but find it less palpitation-inducing than the real thing (I use Illy for that too).

urbanbuddha · 20/05/2024 05:00

Lavazza Prontissimo Intenso. Stock up on it when it’s on offer.

Coffee bags. Taylors are the best.

I need at least 2 in a mug to make a half decent coffee - they are so weak!

Grind make compostable pods.

That's the one I swear by @Fooshufflewickjbannanapants. And I am VERY picky with my instant coffee!!

Have you ever tried Hack Coffee? It tastes great and has loads of good vitamins in. I have been making chilled coffes with it, blending with ice, milk and a little yoghurt (cocoa powder on the top too!!). Delicious and good for you.

I used to like the azera one best but discovered l'or artiste, it's a similar size tin and the fine grain instant coffee. It's delicious and strong. Even non coffee drinkers have commented on how amazing it smells. It's 7 quid a tin so I bulk buy when on offer

Omg this is utterly genius!! How many cups of it can you have a day? I wouldn't want to waste vitamins by overdosing 😂 but equally would want to know enough so as to maybe swap/reduce my daily tablets.

That also sounds good @zephyry will look out for that to try, though the normal Lor does tend to give me a headache, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make in the name of research 😁

Tristar15 · 08/09/2024 08:27

Lavazza pods are biodegradable, not made from aluminium so a better eco friendly choice. I can’t get on with instant coffee but take L’Or instant on holiday. Won’t buy Nestle products.

newyear2024 · 08/09/2024 08:34

I've tried the majority of instant coffees and this one comes out on top, leaves a creamy foam on top and is really smooth. There is a similar smaller 'espresso' one by nescafe and I'm convinced they are exactly the same

Another who won't buy nestle. Kenco millicano is our go to.
