Edinburgh hotel which doesn’t cost £££££

We are going to Edinburgh at the end of June for a family wedding. We need a cheap-ish hotel for 1 night, but I didn’t heed mumsnet advice and stupidly had that expensive 3rd child! So there are 5 of us.

I can’t find anywhere for us to stay that will be less than £500. Even premier inn is quoting £470 because we have to 2 rooms.

Has anyone got any suggestions? We don’t need anywhere really fancy, just not dodgy. Kids are all primary age, and I’d happily make them bed share if hotels would allow it!

What part of Edinburgh is the wedding in. That information would really help folks check hotels for you

How are you travelling and where’s the wedding? You could look at premier inns on the outskirts of Edinburgh, but some will be easier to get to on public transport than others and would probably require a taxi back in the evening, but migh work out cheaper.

To add these are all within a short walking distance of the Murrayfield stadium, there’d be dozens if I was willing to go 2 plus miles away

no idea what it’s like but £270 for a family room

I’ve just typed in 2 adults 3 kids Edinburgh for the last weekend in June and the first website was booking.com which has got around 80 choices from £180-£500 (and clearly loads of more expensive ones).

This is so strange because I’m getting very different results using same filters etc!

Thanks to everyone for these suggestions. I’m looking into everything. Wedding is at a hotel in direction of airport (which is also what we’re flying into/out of) so going to try to focus on that area, but following up all leads!

In which case I'd recommend hotels near Edinburgh tram stops and definitely consider Dunfermline and Livingston.
