It’s May next week. The longest day of the year in seven weeks.

It’a currently 8 degrees and raining.

I am still wear my winter wardrobe.

This must be the worst spring on record. Where is the sun.

The longest day of the year is in 7-8 weeks but I take your point about everything else. It's shit, isn't it?

Whinge · 28/04/2024 08:52

Agreed. It's bloody miserable and i'm bored of wearing jumpers and boots. If there's a hosepipe ban this summer I will riot. 🤣

RampantIvy · 28/04/2024 08:54

Depressing isn't it.

All the summer haters will be rubbing their hands with glee.

I feel for the poor farmers who are losing lambs and who can't plant anything.

RabbitsRock · 28/04/2024 08:54

We were just saying similar. There surely can’t be any more rain up there! And it’s been so cold! Still put our heating on in the evenings.

Fulshaw · 28/04/2024 08:54

It’s been raining all night and forecast is that it’s going to rain all day. It’s depressing.

Good point, I’ll correct that. I was imagining it was May.

Still, would be nice if we had a bit of sun before it starts getting dark again.

Rained all night here, forecast more later, high of 10degrees. It’s madness! Very depressing actually 🙁

Jeezitneverends · 28/04/2024 08:58

I’d just like to be able to leave the house without wearing a bloody puffa jacket! Clearly too much to ask though

TheThingIsYeah · 28/04/2024 08:58

I could hear it pissing down last night. Grey leaden skies again today. Had the log burner on yesterday.

I live in Essex. Apart from June and a bit of Sept, the weather has been shit here for 18 months.

Petalpup · 28/04/2024 09:00

I will cry if we get to the longest day without having a decent spell of nice weather.

Peridot1 · 28/04/2024 09:00

It’s so depressing.

I blame Brexit. And the government. And aliens. And Trump. And I think we need Noah to build an ark.

treacledan71 · 28/04/2024 09:00

I went out for a friend's yearly birthday celebration yesterday afternoon and normally tan my legs and wear a,dress as its warmer. Yesterday we all had tights or trousers on and cardigans or coats. When we did sit outside once it was round a heater drinking hot drinks at one point.

OldTinHat · 28/04/2024 09:01

I'm off on holiday next month to Liverpool with a friend. We went at exactly the same time last year and we were soooo hot, it was almost tropical! And here we are, wearing jumpers and boots, shivering, heating on, and just can't ever imagine it being warm again!

OldTinHat · 28/04/2024 09:03

Oh - and I'm currently having my garden overhauled at great expense because it's been a bramble jungle for two years. All in anticipation of a fabulous summer and being able to sit outside. Ha flipping ha!

Sparkletastic · 28/04/2024 09:04

I'm sick of it. Last week I got some of my summer clothes out with the demented idea that doing so would force the sunshine out. It's consistently been jumper weather 😔

Thegreatgiginthesky · 28/04/2024 09:05

Looking at the forecast it does seem to be the last miserable day today. Temperatures rising to 18 and no rain next week!

I agree, give or take a couple of days, it has been pretty cool and wet since August 2022.

Just a two week heatwave. Anything over 19. A pause in the rain.

WhatACluster · 28/04/2024 09:06

It’s so cold here it went down to almost freezing last week, I ended up putting the heating back on…

Its rained more or less for the past 36 hours which makes it damp and I find the damp makes it feel colder.

I know the farmers around here are really struggling with all the rain

Michiru · 28/04/2024 09:08

Rain is still forecast every day for the next 2 weeks where I am, even if it is getting warmer. I have done little bits in the garden, but all the big jobs are still waiting, the slugs are eating all my sodding plants, the solar panels need the nesting pigeons removed and then proofed against further bird invasions and people won't come out in the rain.

I suffer from SAD and have had my lamp running daily since October. There is no let-up, it seems, and hasn't been since June last year. Where is summer?

Shopping any current season ranges is impossible, some beautiful clothes about but difficult to rationalise buying any of it to wear (unless it will look good with tights, boots and a rain coat).

I don’t think I’ve worn a sandal in the UK since 2022. Pedicurists must be having a terrible time.

Yep, woke up this morning to the sound of torrential rain on the window. I'm so desperate for sun and normally I prefer winter over summer but this is ridiculous! I bought some new summer things for me and my little one at Easter thinking it would be nice soon and we haven't worn any of them - not even close!

SunAndAColdBracingWind · 28/04/2024 09:10

But it’s April? Not summer yet. You have June, July and august to come and it’s often warm into September.

SunAndAColdBracingWind · 28/04/2024 09:11

Plus May will be getting warmer.

Except last year (aside from a week or two) they were just as wet and miserable.

WendysWindyHouse · 28/04/2024 09:12

It’s making me so miserable.

Came out of the hospital on Thursday with my mum and whilst we waited to be picked up we sat on a bench and the sun broke through the black clouds.

It was a glorious moment and we both sat with our faces towards those warm rays and I can’t tell you how wonderful it felt. Sadly lasted about 5 mins but boy I miss the warmth.

I’m 51 and remember a time when we actually had lovely, proper springs. If these perpetual dank and dark winters continue I’m seriously considering moving to a warmer country.
