It’a currently 8 degrees and raining.

I am still wear my winter wardrobe.

This must be the worst spring on record. Where is the sun.

Sun is with us on west coast of Scotland and has been for most of the week. Still chilly though, some frosty mornings. But prior to that we had rain for months on end.

Except last year (aside from a week or two) they were just as wet and miserable.

But that was last year…

This is what a planet looks like in its death throes.

Now you’re just being silly.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 28/04/2024 09:14

My Dad is very ill and we don't think he's got long left. I'm praying for some sun - it's so bloody depressing at the moment without the constant grey dampness. I'd love him to be able to sit out in the garden

Peridot1 · 28/04/2024 09:14

Last year April was quite cold - I remember as we were trying to get our garden sorted as we were hosting a big bbq in early June and I was always freezing trying to get things done. But it wasn’t as wet. It seems to have been raining constantly since last July.

We had nice weather in June and early July and then almost as soon as schools broke up it started to rain and has hardly stopped since.

Whinge · 28/04/2024 09:16

SunAndAColdBracingWind · 28/04/2024 09:13

But that was last year…

And?

My point is you can't guarantee the weather will be nicer in June, July, August or even September. It could just as easily be another shit summer.

And you can’t guarantee what it will be like this year. What’s the point getting depressed about something that hasn’t (and may not) happen yet?

Hobnobswantshernameback · 28/04/2024 09:22

It's shit for growing anything
its worrying as farmers should be planting and seeing the start of growth now and it's been far too wet and cold
the soil needs to warm for stuff to grow
if this carries on there will be shortages of stuff and it will be more expensive
My allotment looks naff, nothing is growing.
It's colder now than it was in January and the relentless rain has been soul destroying.
dry and a bit sunny here today but probably no warmer than 12 degrees
My poor plants
😢

BatshitCrazyWoman · 28/04/2024 09:24

I'm on the outskirts of London, and we had a very spring-like week a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't hot (it's not meant to be in April!) but it was bright.

This is the weather for me next week, which doesn't look too bad?

OMG the weather
TheaBrandt · 28/04/2024 09:25

Still in January clothes long puffs coat and thick jumpers. Outdoor pool opens in two weeks! Can’t imagine it.

Copperoliverbear · 28/04/2024 09:25

Laying here waiting to take the dogs out, this weather spoils everything, it's the weekend was looking forward to a beautiful walk and a nice bit of breakfast.

ABwithAnItch · 28/04/2024 09:26

Completely agree. So sick of this weather.

cheerscheerscheerstomeyeahcheers · 28/04/2024 09:26

So depressing, especially with young children

MidnightPatrol · 28/04/2024 09:28

SunAndAColdBracingWind · 28/04/2024 09:10

But it’s April? Not summer yet. You have June, July and august to come and it’s often warm into September.

This is particularly bleak, even for April.

This weekend last year it was 19 degrees and sunny.

We have only managed to sit out a couple of times so far this year - the local pub said they’re struggling as usually the beer garden would be full all weekend by this point, and no one comes when it rains.

It’s hard work when every moment of your free time it seems to be grey, so cold, windy and rainy. It’s been 8 months of it in a row. And following a bit of a wash out summer too.

It’s very bizarre weather for late April. I was outside all day yesterday in a winter hat and thermal gloves and I was still cold when I sat down for my lunch!

grannycake · 28/04/2024 09:28

I'm on holiday in Provence and it's forecast to rain all week as well

JoJothegerbil · 28/04/2024 09:28

Absolutely fed up with the dullness, damp and rain. It feels like the weather has been shit since July last year. My birthday is next week and it's usually a lot warmer than this.

SoupDragon · 28/04/2024 09:29

The OP specifically mentions spring, not summer.

This spring has been utterly shit.

eatsleepfarmrepeat · 28/04/2024 09:30

We’re farmers and it’s just so fucking endless. It had dried up enough to plant some spring crops last few weeks but it’s been so bloody cold nothing has really come up much, now it’s raining again and non of the pre-ems will be able to be applied until at least Wednesday now, my rain gauge says we’ve had almost 30mm overnight.

All of our cattle are still inside being fed haylage we really need to keep back for autumn but it’s too wet for them to calve outside.

I’ll probably just light the fire and drown in red wine after we’ve finished feeding and bedding all the livestock down at lunchtime. Farming is not the job to be in just now.

I live in a farming area, and the fields have been ploughed (the roads are covered in mud), but there are puddles between the furrows and no planting has been carried out yet.

We're allowed to moan about the weather @SunAndAColdBracingWind

Beezknees · 28/04/2024 09:31

It's supposed to start warming up from Tuesday. Chucking it down here this morning.

I'm in Sorrento next week and forecast to rain daily there too 😢

Did a decent walk yesterday between showers but so cold - 5degrees

Yes, life would be much improved if we could sit in the park for the afternoon.

Already been out to the playground in the rain this morning, I’d been hoping we would be able to hang out in the park for the afternoon by now.

Rugby is cancelled due to flooded pitches. As in bits under water.

My Facebook memories include playing in the paddling pool and a scout camp where we worried about heatstroke.
