It’a currently 8 degrees and raining.

I am still wear my winter wardrobe.

This must be the worst spring on record. Where is the sun.

I looked out of my bedroom window this morning and remarked to DH that if it weren't for the leaves on the trees being green, you would think it was October.

Thought exactly the same last night, it's slightly odd to have autumnal weather and trees springing into leaf at the same time. Currently grey and breezy in SW London but according to the met office will clear by late afternoon. And SUN tomorrow! (allegedly). That'll dry us out for the next deluge.

TheaBrandt · 28/04/2024 10:54

The “snug indoors with hot chocolate” gets old after 8 months surely? summer haters who must be in heaven this year.

Riverlee · 28/04/2024 10:55

Getting my summer clothes out in anticipation. Also fed up with rain, rain, rain. Heating still on

I am on the South East (Kent coast) and it is raining and windy again today. It has been like that for months with the odd sunny day.

At least it is getting a bit warmer it seems.

I really don't know how people in the North and Scotland are coping wit this.

It really is quite depressing.

Scotland are getting longer daylight hours though. Guess that’s a bonus.

This weather is the result of climate change. The year on year trend is that it will get worse

The good news is that that trend can be stopped with climate action policies from governments. This is the big election year globally. Folks, we’d better be voting and making your voices heard accordingly.

When your grandkids asked what you did, don’t just say you moaned on mumsnet. There’s a Real, Finite, chance to stop the weather getting any worse in years to come.

And the historic weather chart that @focacciamuffin posted?
Climate action policies from government invariably ends up with us having to pay more money and the leaders of the world laughing all the way to the bank.

Sadik · 28/04/2024 11:02

Bad weather is nothing new, but we're definitely seeing more extremes - wetter winters & springs, bigger storms etc, exactly as was predicted to happen.
Been in horticulture for 30 years & it really is much, much more challenging now. You can wish away climate change all you like, but you'll still see the results in terms of food shortages & high prices.

MokaEfti · 28/04/2024 11:06

FWIW isnt it supposed to warm up around Wednesday? I certainly hope so. I went to visit my mum yesterday and when I went out into the garden it felt like winter (in Bucks).

fatphalange · 28/04/2024 11:10

It's not that cold round here, but it's rained every fucking day at some point, if not all day apart from one or two days in recent memory!

Livelovebehappy · 28/04/2024 11:11

Thegreatgiginthesky · 28/04/2024 09:05

Looking at the forecast it does seem to be the last miserable day today. Temperatures rising to 18 and no rain next week!

No reprieve up in the North I’m afraid for this upcoming week. Rain forecast for most of the week, with temps reaching a high of 14 degrees. I’m beyond depressed, and we only have a window of four months, before the long drag into Autumn.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 28/04/2024 11:11

I'm with you. I'm usually quite hardy/pragmatic but this interminable wind and rain is really getting to me now.

I want to sort my garden out and generally be spending time outside but instead I feel like I'm hibernating.

user8800 · 28/04/2024 11:13

It was the wettest may on record last year....

BatshitCrazyWoman · 28/04/2024 11:14

Longma · 28/04/2024 10:17

For me it looks like the temperature is going to rise a little but it's just yet another week of daily rain.

Whereabouts are you @Longma ? I'm on the London/Kent border.

Vote Green Party for less wind and rain, is that what you are saying? Come on.

If climate on earth is impacted by humans, the more pressing issues is the 80million that gets added to it every year, not whether Julie next door uses plastic straws instead of paper ones.

Tessisme · 28/04/2024 11:22

Grrrr. After me saying how pleasant it was here, it is now pissing down on my washing. NOTHING in the weather forecast.

idreamoftoddlersleepytime · 28/04/2024 11:27

It's wrecked my garden. The lawn is just dreadful. Full of moss and bare patches from sitting water

Longma · 28/04/2024 11:28

Whereabouts are you @Longma ? I'm on the London/Kent border.

Sorry, I forgot to add - South Yorkshire.
Just rain for the next week or so.

GingerPirate · 28/04/2024 11:28

RampantIvy · 28/04/2024 08:54

Depressing isn't it.

All the summer haters will be rubbing their hands with glee.

I feel for the poor farmers who are losing lambs and who can't plant anything.

Yes, Summer hater here.
Wish it lasted.
Soz! 😁

loudbatperson · 28/04/2024 11:35

As the effects of climate change really start to bite we are going to see more and more rain at our latitude unfortuneately. It's going to destroy arable farming here as the ground will no longer be able to cope.

IClaudine · 28/04/2024 11:37

GingerPirate · 28/04/2024 11:28

So you are looking forward to paying more for your food and possible shortages? Did you not read the post from a farmer?

katebushh · 28/04/2024 11:41

I'm in London and is literally hashing stopped raining, next Saturday is meant to be clear blue skies though.

katebushh · 28/04/2024 11:41

hasn't*

Comedycook · 28/04/2024 11:44

I cannot bear the gloom and grey skies. It's so depressing.

myheadisaterribleplace · 28/04/2024 11:44

Sparkletastic · 28/04/2024 09:04

I'm sick of it. Last week I got some of my summer clothes out with the demented idea that doing so would force the sunshine out. It's consistently been jumper weather 😔

I am guilty of this too

MumblesParty · 28/04/2024 11:46

Thegreatgiginthesky · 28/04/2024 09:05

Not here in the midlands sadly. Temperatures due to rise to mid teens but still rain every day.

I’m just waiting for the hosepipe ban that will inevitably come after the 2 weeks of dry weather we have in August!

TheaBrandt · 28/04/2024 11:47

Baffled that anyone can prefer this cold wet grey constant miz to a soft warm 21 degrees sunny May Day but there are lots of weirdos in the world I guess.
