I'm hungry but I can't eat

Forgot to have tea somehow.

Am now starving but has a GS a few years ago and if I eat before bed I wake up with stomach pains.

But can't nod off as my belly's rumbling.

Think ill treat myself to a cooked breakfast somewhere tomorrow.

Can’t you just eat and stay up for a bit?

The only person I knew who would ‘forget’ meals had an eating disorder, are you ok?

BindySoo · 23/04/2024 22:34

Definitely don't have an eating disorder.

Just had a manic night doing different freezer teas for kids and didn't fancy any of it so meant. to make myself something different. However I forgot until I got in bed and realised I was hungry.

No, I'd have to stay up till about 2. 30am.

I can't eat for around 4 hours before sleeping.

Can you have a milkshake or a hot chocolate? That might fill you up a bit.

Sorry to be dim but what's a gs?

BindySoo · 23/04/2024 22:42

Gastric sleeve.

I can't drink liquid before bed either.
Though I don't have to wait quite as long after.

I couldn't have a hot chocolate as the sugar would give me the sugar dumps.

People think it's an easy way out but it fucks you up quite a bit. For life.

I didn’t know what GS was when I posted. Did you not have that done to control eating and therefore disordered eating? Or was it for another reason.

BindySoo · 24/04/2024 19:55

Perhaps before I had disordered eating but I can't now. It's impossible to over eat. I'd vomit.

Out of interest, do you regret having the GS?
Did you lose a lot of weight?

You can still have unhealthy ideas about food and some people do actually still overeat and then vomit with a GS The GS doesn’t fix the persons problem with food, it only helps them lose weight, the unhealthy thinking about food is still there.

I have a work colleague who has a GS, she had a binge eating disorder but would also have times when she starved herself. She still does that now with the GS, but when she’s very ill mentally, she tells people she forgets to eat to cover it up.

Anyway, I hope you’re ok. 💐

Lots of people forget to eat. I have ADHD and often forget to eat or drink, it's very common in ADHDers. I also know people who are NT who said they have forgotten to eat when very busy. I don't think a one off forgetting to eat episode automatically = eating disorder.

InattentiveADHD · 24/04/2024 22:40

What did you do OP? If I were you I'd have eaten and stayed up. I can't sleep when hungry.

I didn’t say it did. I commented about the person I know and asked if OP was ok. She was posting late at night and mumsnet seems to have a lot of posters with disordered eating so I wondered if she was ok and asked if she was. She said she has a GS and possibly had food issues in the past, but didn’t now. I gave more background on my experience and I wished her well. 🤷🏻‍♀️
