Where does the spare loo roll live?

A bit of a unspoken argument between DH and me about where to put the spare loo roll in the back bathroom. Well we have spoken about it but keep putting it where we think is better!

It's the small loo as you come into the house. We have a loo roll holder where the one in use lives. I put them on the windowsill, it is at about shoulder level beside the toilet, always dry (no shower in there so no condensation etc). He puts it on the shelf above the toilet.

His way, if you didn't notice the holder was empty you'd need to stand to get the spare roll over the toilet. Mine it is there beside you.

Also some regular guests (both our mums) can't reach that shelf.

Yes little to worry about in my life ( I do) - also WFH and I've no one to chat to about mundane things!

On the floor at the side of the loo, between it and the wall.always handy.

@stealthsquirrelnutkin My great gran had crocheted (by her) covers which looked like dolls in a really full skirt.

@UnderMontanaSkies he's a cattle farmer but also fixed machines and makes things so lots of dirty!! I've a 1.5yr old who looks to be on the same track.

I think I'll either go with the little blue holder from Amazon or find something like the white one above - I'm in Ireland so can't get the debenhams one above.

On the floor between the toilet and the sink.

Janetime · 22/04/2024 14:39

If you don’t use the loo I’d let him put them where he wishes.

Ugh- so it gets flush spray from the toilet. ( yes, even with lid down!) and spray from careless males! Plus in the way of floor cleaning.

Ours is actually on the floor within reach of toilet seat (and no one has to try and hover over toilet seat while they reach elsewhere. If it didn't live there, it really wouldn't bother me if it was on the window cill or shelf.

In the plastic wrapper, tucked in at the top DP is a sit down pisser (which i find unusual, but is definitely cleaner), and lifted off the floor for mopping, obviously!

We use a lidded box thing - not to big. Fits 6 rolls in, and sometimes put the cleaning priloducts in. Loo roll in use goes on top so no need for another holder.

We have stick holders that hold three rolls and tuck away next to the loo

Solmum1964 · 22/04/2024 15:15

There's usually two in the cupboard under the basin in both shower rooms and the rest are in the larder/cupboard under the stairs.

I live in hope that if someone puts the last one from the cupboard onto the holder that they would think to restock or at least let me know but I don't think that's ever going to happen!

idontlikealdi · 22/04/2024 15:16

We have a stick holder round the side of the cistern and a big basket in between the sinks as my children seem to eat toilet paper.

walnutcoffeecake · 22/04/2024 15:25

Mine are being held up with little men.

In our downstairs loo we have a little set of shelves next to the sink.

(Both directly opposite while sat on the loo and reachable if needed.)

uncomfortablydumb53 · 22/04/2024 16:09

I have an on tank roll holder for 2 rolls
One kept in the kitchen cupboard as " tissues"
Keeps them off my wet room floor

uncomfortablydumb53 · 22/04/2024 16:14

By tank I mean cistern.. word escaped me at the time!

@Vroomfondleswaistcoat 😂 that's brilliant!

@pontipinemum ahh, all the muck then! My DH is arable and poultry and the grot never ceases to amaze me, I also have 3 sproglets who follow in their fathers footsteps, plus a muddy spaniel and, currently, a lamb 🤦‍♀️ - so I am fighting a losing battle tbh!
