Starmer on Cass

I've just been chatting with a friend about the Cass Report and neither of us could remember if Kier Starmer had ever made a statement about it, but assumed he must have.

A quick Google search brought this up:

But surely he's made some sort of statement by now but I can't find one.

Is anyone aware/have heard him say anything at all about Cass or is he hiding in a fridge somewhere a la Boris Johnson 😂

As far as I am aware he is MIA on this subject.

Come on op it’s only been what a week since it was published.
It’s going to take Kier longer than that to come up with some statement to appease all sides without actually admitting he was wrong.

I was interested in this. It has been reported that someone close to him is trans.

True. But I think it may impact on his position which is one of the reasons why I’m interested in his response.

I don’t know about the personal stuff but he is a hence sitter and tends to hide when it’s tough stuff

The important thing from me is to understand how the Labour Party will square the findings of this report with their stated intention to ban 'all forms' of conversion therapy.

In spite of the fact that conversion therapy brings to mind all kind of horrible treatments, 'all forms' can be taken to include any talking therapy for gender confused children. Given that there are whistleblowers from GIDS who see puberty blockers and the medical route as 'transing away the gay' and the disproportionate number of other vulnerable groups of children who have been allocated historically to these services such as autistic children and children in care etc I would bloody well hope that they could give pretty clear clarification that these children will not be left with no assistance on the basis that therapy for any mental health conditions could be deemed to be 'conversion' under a Labour Government and that more generally they will follow the recommendations of Cass.

@lifeturnsonadime I agree with what you've said and I'd also like to know Labour's stance on Cass, in detail and from their leader. It's a deafening silence from him on something which could well developed into a large medical scandal.
What I also don't understand is why the press aren't commenting more on his lack of engagement with Cass (apart from the link I posted).

14 years tories in power and only now in the face of electoral defeat do they claim to give a shit about women. Blatant and insincere political point scoring as usual by the Tories.

He’s the fence-sitter par excellence. Always. But especially on this topic.

Oh, here we go with the boring playground tit for tat. It’s sooo tedious and old hat.

Some of us are capable of not getting our poms poms out for one team and boo-hissing the other. We’re capable of nuanced thought and also holding our own side to account. Just because somebody criticises Starmer, doesn’t mean they’re a fan of the Tories. The reductive, black and white thinking when people chime in like this is not only boring, it actively holds us back as a collective in finding good solutions to our collective problems.

Rosie Duffield would also like to know Starmer's take on the Cass Review. And where he was when she was being hounded by the trans-bullies.

Is one of his children not non binary?

If that's even true I don't see how it should affect his ability to do his job. Also, if he is not commenting on Cass because of personal reasons then what else is he not going to do because of personal reasons?

At this point I assume Starmer just doesn't care about dodgy medical practices on children which is a very bad look.
