Good names for showjumping horses

SoMuchToBits · 15/04/2024 21:34

I'm not looking for names for an actual real horse. But as a few of you may know, I sometimes post Playmobil dioramas on here. I'm planning something for the summer which will involve showjumping horses, and also dressage. They need names. If anyone can suggest some good names I'd be very grateful!

Thank you!

There used to be a SJer called Brad Pitt which amused me as it would sometimes be announced as "name riding Brad Pitt".

That's so weird. I came on to say the same thing!

It's not really. If life has taught me anything it's that we've never had an original thought.

You could go retro and pick the names of some famous show jumpers from when it was on TV a lot. Ryan's son and Milton (both John Whittaker)

Or how about from Jilly Cooper novels. Revenge, Macaulay, Sailor.

I know some showjumpers. Stable name Mitzi - Cheyenne Ballon(!) Archie - Razzle Dazzle and a few other where I just know their stable names, Star, Tippy, Patrick, Mags, Flynn.

I did once go as far as to nearly register a racehorse with Weatherbys as Brian the Racehorse. Stupid other owners outvoted me.

Ah, I was going to suggest (Next) Milton, for nostalgia's sake!

SoMuchToBits · 16/04/2024 08:01

I suppose instead of having "Ryan's Son" I could have "Brian's Son" (Brian being Norman the Foreman's best mate! Grin

Looking through these, some great suggestions but a few I can't use. I couldn't call a horse Clarissa, as there is already a Playmo person with that name. Similarly most of the Magic Roundabout names are out (except Ermintrude) as I already have Playmo people with those names.

But some interesting suggestions, thank you!

Red Flag would be a good name for a horse! But maybe the sort of horse which refuses at all the fences... Grin

I always wanted horses called Hunky Dory and Galaxy Girl.
Merrylegs?

SoMuchToBits · 16/04/2024 16:12

I like Galaxy Girl. Very much the sort of thing I was after. Smile

Or I suppose I could have Suffolk'n'good. That one might win! Grin

FuzzyFetlocks · 16/04/2024 16:51

You could have either a suffix or a prefix that is for your Playmobil equestrian empire. So you might decide to use a name that relates to where you live eg Oxford. Then the horses would have a personal name that is combined with that.

Oxford Orange (I guess that one needs to be a chestnut!)
Oxford Rebel
Oxford Lady

SoMuchToBits · 16/04/2024 17:07

Ah, maybe Lowbeach Lady or Paddleford Squire, that sort of thing! (They are names of places in Playmoland).

Elephantsareace · 16/04/2024 17:31

MN theme - Nest of Vipers

Daft - X riding 'L for Leather' or 'Forgold' or 'For Dear Life' or 'Magnus Magnusson'

Realistic show names (to go with place names) - Supersonic, Mystery Man, High Flyer, Glory Girl, Weathervane, Fanfare, Daytripper.

SoMuchToBits · 16/04/2024 17:50

I like Fanfare and Daytripper. Smile
