I've tried the spring from tweezerman but I caught my face in the sun and it was SO HAIRY. Can I just use a normal razor or do I need a special dermaplaning one? I can't use hair removal cream they always burn my skin

Sorry to derail... Is this something you develop with age or do some people just have? Is it fairer complexion or any?

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 14/04/2024 21:43

I get them too! Most quite fair but a couple of quite bristley ones that seem to pop up overnight.....might try that tweezerman gadget!

I used to shave every morning then by the afternoon I’d get an afternoon shadow! So just before Christmas I found a nice salon and started getting it waxed and it’s so much better! I can now go 3 weeks in between appointments! Wish I’d had done it years ago, give it a go.

If I wax or thread then I just get a rash that goes down just as the new hair emerges. My hair grows quick, I have pcos, so shaving has always been best. I use home lumea on the darker hair.

I agree though, don't bother with the dermaplane things, they're just crap razors for women who don't want to admit they shave, they 'dermaplane' far more acceptable. Just get a proper razor.

I have really thick Mediterranean hair. My hair is all very thick and Bristle like so if I shave I am afraid that I’m going to get a 5 o’clock shadow. What does anyone recommend for me? I never used to thread one day. The lady did my chin for me when there was nothing there and ever since then I’ve had bloody hairs!

Mine worsened in late 30s. It was already bad due to what I believe to be genetics (my dad looks like a gorilla) and I had an eating disorder as a teen, which someone told me can cause the thicker hair growth. I don't know if there is any truth in that. All I know is I have a problem and it isn't going away. I'm fair haired and complexion.

As for OP's question. I use an epilator on my face. Hurts like fuckery but it's quick and effective for a few weeks. I only use it on my face. My legs I just have to shave everyday.

I have pcos so dealt with hairy face for years! I use a combo of vaniqa, shaving and home laser to keep it at bay

Youcanpayit · 14/04/2024 22:15

What sort of hair are we talking?

Peach fuzz, single long wirey ones that appear out of nowhere, or a darker tache?

I use those cheap face razors from Amazon once every 3 weeks or so for my peach fuzz and it doesn't grow back darker or prickly.

I avoid shaving the tache area because I'm not willing to risk that bit going prickly. I wax my top lip, because I can see darker hairs in sunlight.

I pluck out the long wirey ones that appear overnight.

I find dermaplaining the best thing to do, just be careful as it’s easy to nick the skin

@bryceQ
For me, it's an age thing or more precisely an over 50 thing.
Blonde hair, not very hairy anywhere but suddenly hit 50s and have an explosion of fine blonde facial hair and neck hair. Horrid.
