Anyone bought a rubber duck?

Just wondering if anyone else has bought one of these rubber ducks intended for adults, and if so, which you chose? On a recent trip to Brighton I came across a shop in The Lanes entirely devoted to selling nothing but ducks, a mind boggling array of them. I couldn't resist buying a lovely one wearing a cap, sunglasses pushed on top of head, carrying towel, flip flops and a picnic hamper. Starfish and stones beneath indicate he's at the beach. He sits on the corner of my bath and makes me smile 😁.

Like a vibrating duck?

Stressyfab · 14/04/2024 13:22

I have David from the lost boys in duck form!

DS2 and I found a duck shop in London. I can't believe people pay that much for ducks!
We do have some random ones that I bought when DS was small. A Titanic one that I found in a charity shop, and a Nessie one from Scotland.

I bought a load of plastic ducks from Temu and we did a duck hunt instead of an egg hunt!

I've got an Isambard Kingdom Brunel duck,a sailor duck, and am after a King Henry 8th one.

My 1 year old is obsessed with ducks, someone got her one which appears to have fairy lights wrapped round it.

I had a mate years ago who had nodding ducks in her car.

So it's not xompletely out there!

My mate once sent me a rubber duck through the post at uni. She stuck a stamp on its arse and wrote my address in sharpie. It made it from Leeds to Manchester.

We have about 20! We buy one from each place we visit 😂

As Mr Weasley said, “what exactly is the point of a rubber duck?”

PTSDBarbiegirl · 14/04/2024 14:40

Do you mean those little things that sit in the bath with toddlers? Or is this more of an 'adult' toy?

GrumpyPanda · 14/04/2024 14:53

My home town holds a rubber duck race on its river every year. You can purchase a competitor for charity but they don't give it to you after the race - retrieving and distributing a thousand or so ducks would be a gigantic PITA.

We've got an assortment of Disney ones and various others. A York viking one springs to mind

I mean the things for the bath, but with fun twists for adults Probably bought as gifts to match recipients interests. By adult I don't mean anything kinky.

I kept having that quote running through my head as I looked at the ducks.

My DS1 has a flotilla of boats from places visited. He stopped when he ran out of space. Ducks as souvenirs sound fun.

Exactly! I have got a couple that friends have bought me and I'm bemused by it. One of them is a suffragette duck - lovely concept, but what is it FOR?

They don't float! They bob upside down in a bath and I'm bemused at what to do with them. They are just clutter on the side.

claracluck1978 · 14/04/2024 18:15

Not so much a duck but I do have a rubber Narhal on my bath plug

One is never alone with a rubber duck

CeeceeBloomingdale · 14/04/2024 18:21

I recently bought DH the Mallard train duck

CaptainCallisto · 14/04/2024 19:32

I have a lot of them. It started about ten years ago when DH bought me a Shakespeare duck as a joke, and now people buy me them for birthdays/Christmas etc. I have Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, and Elizabeth I in the bathroom, but DH is in the bath (and nobody wants to see that!).

Anyone bought a rubber duck?

@CaptainCallisto Do you want a Suffragette one? PM me an address and I'll happily post the bugger!

123dogdog · 14/04/2024 19:47

I used to try and collect the bud ducks, bud being the brand, in the late 2000s. I think I had about 4 in the end, because they weren’t cheap and I was a child so had no money 😂
