Awful cold sore - how to deal?

I have an awful cold sore at the moment. About an inch across. On my top lip. At the scabby red stage. I have to go out tomorrow to a school function. During the day in full light.
Is there a way of covering it? Or making it less revolting to look at?

I've had one before but not for many years.
