They have system glitches and loads will not be able to be delivered today according to an employee I spoke to this morning.
Just a heads up in case you need to make alternative arrangements.

I had to run out first thing and my (large) Sainsburys was only able to accept cash so it's an issue affecting all card payments (online and instore!)

Hope its fixed for tomorrow 🙏 😬

I was in Sainsburys at about 7.30 and I was able to pay by card, but contactless wasn't working. Smart Shop not working at the tills either, so had to scan my shopping again.

My Tesco order is also cancelled for the same reason. I need the stuff today so I was going to see if there's any chance of getting a slot with Sainsburys. I won't bother.

Morrisons delivery is (currently) still available and I've got a slot for early tomorrow morning, if that helps anyone.

I've a collection booked for 3-4 today and hadn't got an email receipt, but I have just seen this news and now I'm not too hopeful!

I used a couple of coupons, but because my order is still live on the system I can't apply them to the new order I've placed. Has anyone else had this issue? Have I just lost them now?

I've had a message from Sains on Messenger advising to order from Monday onwards so I'll be cancelling my new order for tomorrow now.
They've also said over the next few days they'll be adding a voucher to my account as an apology for the inconvenience.

I had a collection booked for between 8 and 9 - first time I've done this with Sainsbury's. I hadn't received confirmation the order was ready so rang the contact centre. The call got cut off twice so I rang the store. They told me they had a problem affecting all the orders and that they could only take cash or chip and pin. They had managed to open the store. I went to Tesco instead which is closer but not my preference. I've had an email from the CEO of Sainsbury's and everyone affected is getting a voucher. This will cost them millions.

I was in store earlier and it was cash or chip and pin only and they’d shut the petrol station. I was lucky and had cards with me. It was nice and quiet as I guess some people were unable to comply.

I’ve just tried to buy shopping as cashier said Visa would work and it was Mastercard that wasn’t. None of my Visa cards worked and same for everyone else around me who were trying to pay with Chip and Pin.

I’ve had to leave the stuff there and will go back with cash later.

Nope no receipt. The delivery driver had a paper copy of subs etc.

If their backoffice systems are anywhere near as pants as their stock management systems,. that would be a given.

I'm smelling a single point of failure somewhere.

Well if they are sharing the same backend, it's hardly surprising.

I'm mildly curious as to what could bring down smartshop and contactless payments. The fact C&P still works is illuminating.

I’m nervous now. My Tesco food show is due any minute! Between 2-3. I’d normally have the little map telling me how many stops there are before me but nothing… I’ve had a receipt though so hope hasn’t died yet.

Our local Sainsbury's was only taking cash, we only had phones so popped to Lidl instead.

Oddly I paid contactless for petrol on my way in so about 7.20. But pay at pump wasn't available.

Yeah I was affected by this today - had a delivery booked for this morning and it didn't arrive. Must have been a massive glitch - they will have lost a fortune.

oh you poor thing. I hope you can get something sorted. I would order elsewhere or go to the shops, you can always refuse the order if it arrives & you can't use it. I suspect we'd have a week of party food!!

I drove to click & collect on the off chance, but there was no answer.

I went in the shop, managed to find everything and paid cash.

Small queue but not as busy / chaotic as I was anticipating; I think most just avoided completely.
