Just back from walking my dog and carried a bag of poo past about 50 wheelie bins (tomorrow is Jin day and the organised ones around here have out their bins out already. I like to plan to do it then forget and fly out and chase the lorry down the street on the day. Life on the edge.
I realised that one of those bins might belong to a mumsnetter who'd have potentially been horrified had I popped my pop bag in their (soon to be emptied ) bin.
I wouldn't have really thought about it as much had it not been for Mumsnet. I wouldn't have put the poo in a stranger's bin but it got me thinking.
Every time I peg our washing I think of spider willies. And I wouldn't be making the best flapjack ever if it weren't for Soup dragon on here

Spoons, forks, knives. No matter what anyone says on here this is the correct and only order...

Pascha · 13/02/2024 20:51

And yes, the flapjack is correct.

Rustygirl · 13/02/2024 20:55

@Pascha I feel like it's a secret only MM folk will know but it's delicious and I'm forever grateful to @soupdragon

AffIt · 13/02/2024 20:55

@Pascha what?

No: forks, knives, spoons (assuming you're right-handed).

You don't use a spoon with your left hand.

Rustygirl · 13/02/2024 21:01

I'm (left to right soon, fork, knife but I can't have my thread detailed like this. Close the drawers, walk away and tell me about spider willies ! 🤣🤣

Nothing. I've been on Mumsnet pretty much daily since 2006 and nothing I've read here has made me alter my usual behaviour.

GrandHighPoohbah · 13/02/2024 21:07

That when it comes to washing bedding, some people are ridiculously frequent, and others are truly skanky. I am reassured to apparently be somewhere in between.

HappierTimesAhead · 13/02/2024 21:08

I am now terrified to ever leave my washing out overnight because it might get 'darked on'.
And I am now conscious that some people think that calling a picnic tea 'picky bits' is revolting. So, I am careful about using that phrase😂

Rustygirl · 13/02/2024 21:08

@LindorDoubleChoc I now want a Lindor ! I dont think ive necessarily changed what i do but certain things so make me think of Mumsnet !

I have found some great ideas for holiday activities on MN.

HappierTimesAhead · 13/02/2024 21:09

There is a washing theme emerging already!

I got a second job through the jobs board, which pays well, is interesting, and is very different to my main job.

I also now get most of my skincare and perfumes through the Liberty Beauty Drop, and advent calendar, which I save for with my Beauty Drop subscription.

There are certain things I’ve been educated on too, around social terminology.

Custardcreamandcoffee · 13/02/2024 22:04

Please tell me the flap jack recipe

pyrocantha · 13/02/2024 22:07

I was going to ask for the flapjack recipe
I still make marslady LDC
I have been here under many many guises since 2006
I have learned a huge amount but now can't think of much.
I wouldn't care about dog poo in a bag in my wheelie bin if it was being collected tmw
lol at spider willies
Handbags on kitchen island maybe

Rustygirl · 13/02/2024 22:07

I've got an older version which has sugar in but if you search for soup dragon flapjack Mumsnet (in Google ) it comes up
From memory
250g oats
150g butter
100g sugsr
2 generous tablespoons syrup
1/2 tin condensed milk

Melt butter, sugar syrup then add condensed milk and boil briefly - keep stirring
Chuck oats in and bake for about 16 mins 170 (I think - best check !!)
