Glasses and swimming

So I’m off with dd to a beach resort and she loves swimming and snorkelling. All good for her but I have glasses (short sighted -3). What can I do to join her? Just accept that I’m not going to see as much as her? Wear contacts (no no surely)?

I thought about prescription goggles but doesn’t work for snorkels?

any advice welcome!!

I suppose my issue with prescription goggles is when I’m not wearing them - on the way there for example. I always feel really paranoid about losing my glasses so the thought of t leaving them on the boat is worrying!!

I swim twice a week and wear contact lenses with my goggles. I've never even had a slight irritation with them. That said I'm always careful to make sure that my goggles don't leak.

Last time I had a lens check, the optician made me sign a disclaimer saying I understood that I shouldn't wear contact lenses anywhere near water, including in the shower and also swimming with googles. He then went on to say I should avoid wearing them in the rain too! (which wasn't on the disclaimer). Given I mainly have lenses so I can go running in the rain without the need to wear glasses I did say that was ridiculous. I haven't swum in them since then, but my prescription isn't as strong as yours and I can see enough to get to/from the changing room and can see what I need to in the pool. But if I needed to spot someone specific across the pool I would be in trouble!

I've never thought twice about wearing my contacts with goggles or snorkel mask, I wear daily disposables and change them if I get water in my eyes.
