Obviously, I know the literal meaning, and it's used in French etc. But in context of the target word, it's a bit harsh.

Think about some thing that is described as having a certain 755. One of the main things you'd look for when buying one is TARGET.

Think about something expensive you might buy that often talks about 947 and TARGET . You wouldn't usually buy one all that often so you want to make sure both of those factors are good.
