Please any advise I’m grateful for .
i am getting married in June this year . I have my dress , venue is beautiful but will be a small wedding . 50 guests max . Should I wear a veil ? Am I too old ? I am 44 second wedding for us both . I’d love to wear one for the pictures but don’t want to look like mutton dressed as lamb . I’ve attached pic of my dress . I moved in 2018 so don’t have contact with any female friends who I could ask .

I think a long thin veil would look gorgeous. Great dress!

I say no, I wasn't comfortable with the symbolism behind them. I tried one on because people kept saying I should and although it looked lovely I knew instantly I was not going to wear one, in fact nothing on earth would have made me, there was no way I was being given away either, or changing my name. But I know many feel differently and if you are happy with it go for it, they can look stunning.

They are very cheap on jjs house I’d get one and decide on the day. Dress is gorgeous.

I had one but it was a big Catholic wedding. They are a pita though, and I wished I'd had an independent tiara, as I wanted my veil off as soon as we had done the photos. I think wear one if you like, but you don't need it. Its a gorgeous dress.

SwirlyShirly · 27/01/2024 13:23

I'd say go for it!!

xyz111 · 27/01/2024 13:27

You look stunning!!!!! I didn't wear a veil only because I didn't want it annoying me. The only way to know is to try some on and see if you like them.

Mudflaps · 27/01/2024 13:28

Try one on and see how you feel. My dress was similar to yours and I wore a cathedral length veil, and I loved it. I had my hairdresser weave a necklace through my hair and the veil was attached to it but easy to remove before the meal leaving the necklace in place. When will you get ro wear one again?? If you want to wear one go for it.

Shufflebumnessie · 27/01/2024 13:28

Your dress is beautiful and you look stunning in it! Congratulations in advance for June.
I don't think the age thing needs to be a consideration at all. Perhaps if you have the opportunity to try one on with your dress that would make it an easy decision for you.
Personally, with the beautiful detail on the back I'd probably not go with a veil but I'd get a beautiful headpiece / tiara instead.

UnravellingTheWorld · 27/01/2024 13:32

If you do, get a small veil so as not to take away from the dress's substantial train. Shoulder length at most.

Thelondonone · 27/01/2024 13:36

I think a finger tip length veil will look odd with that dress because of the train. I personally don’t think it needs a veil due to the length of the train but try some on and decide. If you like it, go for it, your age is no barrier to a veil!

toomanyleggings · 27/01/2024 13:38

Oh go all out. Have pics with and without if you like.

WavingCatsandDogs · 27/01/2024 13:40

No advice but OMG you look amazing!!

JurassicParkaha · 27/01/2024 13:57

Get a veil! It will suit your beautiful dress and it absolutely isn't mutton dressing as lamb. Men don't change what they wear as grooms whether they're 25 or 65, first marriage or fourth. So why should you! Only insecure people without the confidence to wear what they want would judge a bride.

I think you'd look great in a veil. Hope you have a great day!

Honeyroar · 27/01/2024 14:03

I got married at a similar age. Similar type of wedding. Didn’t have a veil. It’s actually one of the few things I’d change about my wedding day - I’d have had a veil..

lshaslam · 27/01/2024 14:10

You look beautiful! ❤️ I was adamant I didn't want a veil, then ended up trying one on at my dress fitting and liked it. Our photographer got some gorgeous pictures with the veil that wouldn't have even crossed my mind, so it's definitely worth considering 😊
