This just did for me

How can this be 12 years old?! Well, it does seem like a lifetime ago...in so many ways! Maybe it's just my weird life 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh my. DH used to be in love with the spice girls when we were dating. Can't believe it's their 30 year anniversary!!?😤😤😤🤭🤭🤭😂😂😂

EmmaEmerald · 14/01/2024 04:59

😂 sorry but the Spice Girls do feel that far away in my mind...

But Macklemore? That's like...not even yesterday yet....!

Lmao, awe well. Just goes to show, everyone feels old at some point.🤭🤭🤭

My radio's set to BBC 6music, so 99% of the songs make me feel old. I choose this station because I AM old 😂

I just looked up 6 Music and it's all current except something from 2007? I think it's showing me what played in the last hour.

I've never heard of the Macklemore song. I just felt old because young adult DD asked who someone on Tv was and I said Elvis Costello and she'd never heard of him.

For me it was Annie Nightingale dying and she was 83! And Jimmy Page is 80. That's older than my MIL.

I watched American Hustle the other day, set way back in the 1970s.
I knew ALLLLLL the background songs.
I’m not old, I’m vintage!

EmmaEmerald · 14/01/2024 11:59

i had to google Jimmy Page 😳

There must be a psychological thing about dividing lines in our lives...and also, if you have playlists (I don't listen to radio) and things stay on those lists, you end up thinking they are more recent than they are? If that makes any sense.

Then things become classics and when that happens, you don't know when they came out.

So for example 2019 was a good year for me, I know lyrically this sad but I find it uplifting ....I don't think I was aware when the original of this came out, but I know my parents liked it.

Then I saw this version - full orchestra and how great is his guitar playing! So it feels recent though I know it's not.

You can also stream this version, so it's on my playlists, the original sounds quite...thin?

Not today, but yesterday when I had the radio on......apparently Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams is 20 years old! How? Where has time gone?

I'm not going to cheat by looking...is that "my shadow's the only one that walks beside me"?

Oh I must look them up, I think I liked that song, though I can't picture them

We are lucky to have access to decades of amazing music.

I felt old when I realised how old Murder on the Dancefloor was. In my head I still think of it as a new song! Grin
