My 992 is a 5-letter word that can't have another dimension.

Scientifically it can. 992 can expand to two words, change the dimension of the second conceptually.

I'm no scientist.

Sorry but I'm failing to see the point here. Does anybody actually get the 1000 word & think, 'Of course! That's how you get to it!'? It seems to an outsider that either you guess it correctly early on, or you thrash about thinking of synonyms, which is what the rules say the game isn't about. Then you wait for someone who's stumbled across the answer to give you clues based on the ones you've stumbled across. I mean, it looks fun as a community activity, but I want something more logical (I do cryptics so I'm set up for that sort of thing).

And is there a game which does run on synonyms? The rules look as though they include a link to one, but it's not a link.

I don't want to p*ss on anybody's chips/fireworks, so I'll get me coat & let you all carry on. ❤

Ah, thank you! Hmm. I've found the 'nearest words' thing but it's just too woolly for me. I shall return to the precision of my cryptic crosswords & leave you in peace. Thanks for your help.

@ifIwerenotanandroid cemantle is based on how words appear online, in news reports for example. When a word has more than one meaning, like yesterday, it creates strange lists.

There's a similar game, Semantle which is based on words that similar semantically.
