RIP Annie. It is hard to remember what it was like when young female voices on the radio were rarer than hens teeth, but that’s how it was. You broke the mould Annie.

Last night I was in a pub quiz (music-based) and one of the questions asked who was the first female DJ on radio. Then this news came today, but it seems she had already died when we were doing the quiz 😿

I'd forgotten all about Michelle Shocked. Anchorage is one of my favourite songs. My brother used to laugh at me trying to sing it like her. I was obsessed.
Thanks for the memory, and thank you Annie.

May she rest in peace and thoughts for her family and friends as they mourn.

I was sad to hear about this. She read out a letter of mine and played my request once, it must have been 1987. I felt seen. Thanks Annie.

Another icon from my teens lost.
She had that rare talent of making you feel like she was talking to you personally when she was on the radio.

RIP.
