I've had my quadriceps tendon stitched back to my knee today. Now the spinal block has worn off I'm in absolute agony. Oramorph and codeine aren't touching it. Any suggestions while I sit and cry.

Oh OP, this sounds so miserable. I don't have any useful advice but like PP above, I just wanted to offer you a big hug and a handhold. I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. Would it help to ask them when they can give you more meds so at least you have something to work towards, as well as pushing for it to be via an IV? Hope by the morning that things have settled and you're feeling much better Flowers

Sounds agony op. Hope the doctor manages to sort some pain relief for you.

Sounds horrible @kneeagony! I would request a PCA (patient-controlled analgesia pump - a drip where you are given a controlled amount of pain relief and can press a button to self-administer.)

Jeds55 · 09/01/2024 05:05

Hope that you've managed to get more meds/doze off OP
I remember being in agony after my cesarean when the midwives couldn't prescribe the pain relief that we needed (needed signing off by 2 I think and the staff weren't there.)
This pain won't last forever (ir just feels like it!)

Naproxen is an alternative that would sit safely with the other analgesia you are using. Have to say your Doctor is an arse and I’d be discussing with PALS why other lines were not followed.

Eventually at 4am they gave me tramadol which was the only thing that made any difference at all.

Hope you’re feeling better!
