Surely I've summited Peak Boring?

This happened last night but I'm still mildly appalled with myself.

I was in bed, kissed DH goodnight, laid my head down on the pillow and felt a pleasing jolt of anticipation for the next day. I couldn't think why for a moment, then realised that it was because Amazon was delivering my new loo brush today.

I'm only 36. Surely this is as boring as I'll get?

I was looking forward to vacuuming earlier. That's worse.

BlowDryRat · 04/01/2024 21:01

Agreed. Sorry.

I like to think that as we get older, we learn to appreciate the finer and simpler things in life… and yes, those include new toilet brushes Grin

Twoshoesnewshoes · 04/01/2024 21:12

I was very excited to try out my new tumble dryer freshener sheets, i kept thinking about it at work and getting distracted.

Scrantonicity2 · 04/01/2024 21:14

I've got a 2-pack of phone chargers coming. It's better than Christmas!

doubleshift · 04/01/2024 21:15

I'm cleaning and de-Christmasing tomorrow 💃👯‍♀️

Mumoftwo1312 · 04/01/2024 21:17

I wouldn't even say that's boring! Just practical!

I can one-up your toilet brush...

I was pleased to open an amazon parcel full of incontinence pads today (we put them under the baby's cot sheet).

Incontinence pads are the best. You can put them under your bedsheet when you're on your period too.

I like the check the Laundry tab on the online shopping to see if there have been any new releases in the detergent or softener world. I like to try new ones and get quite excited by their arrivals.

I did a little clap today when the new shoe storage I'd ordered was delivered (wasn't expecting it until Saturday).

I really need to get out more.

BarelyCoping123 · 04/01/2024 21:17

I have some cheese in the fridge that I'm quite excited about eating tomorrow

😂

minipie · 04/01/2024 21:19

With you on the cheese. I also had a little oooh of excitement yesterday as I discovered some left over semi freddo in the freezer.

Definitely not with the rest of you on cleaning products.

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 04/01/2024 21:19

I get excited knowing I have a clean fresh bed to get into when I change the sheets. You're not alone!

lostinthoughts · 04/01/2024 21:21

My husband announced that the recycling and rubbish collections being missed last week were 'getting him down'. The bin men have been today and he's hit peak excitement. What a loser

I like this theory and all of you pitching in with terrible reasons to be excited. Cheese is a decent reason though.

I took some stuff to the charity shop. And got rid of some batteries in the battery recycling bin at Asda!

I lead an exciting life.

Therunecaster · 04/01/2024 21:25

Today I had delivered a can of banana flowers...fake fish. I could barely work for the anticipation of cooking it.

FizzyStream · 04/01/2024 21:30

I was inordinately excited to put on my brand new soft velour lined 300 denier mega thick black M&S tights this morning. I live in these during the winter and just treated myself to three new pairs as my old ones had holes in the toes. So snuggly warm on my legs at 5.30 this morning it wasn't even a chore to get out of bed!

İcantusethat · 04/01/2024 21:30

@Therunecaster that is quite exciting TBF!

@Therunecaster that is quite exciting TBF!

Suppose so. At 50 I might need to manage my expectations of excitement and fish substitutes

BettyBakesCakes · 04/01/2024 21:32

Well we need to get our excitement somehow now there's no new argos catalogue to look forward to.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 04/01/2024 21:34

@FizzyStream those tights sounded interesting are you able to link pleaae

MerryMarigold · 04/01/2024 21:34

At around your age I got very excited by my new toilet seat. I sent pictures to friends.

I'm now 51 and very little excites me at all. Enjoy this time of your life!

Schoolrunmumbun · 04/01/2024 21:36

I was excited to get up in the morning twice this week because I have new glasses. 👓

DatingDinosaur · 04/01/2024 21:36

Keeping on with the bathroom theme; I'm ridiculously pleased that my new stick on the wall toilet roll holder has stayed stuck on the wall 😂

NeverDropYourMooncup · 04/01/2024 21:38

I have brand new orthotics in my sensible shoes and DP found a tin of beans and sausages in the Co-op after they've been out of stock for about 3 months.

We're living life on the edge.
