Surely I've summited Peak Boring?

This happened last night but I'm still mildly appalled with myself.

I was in bed, kissed DH goodnight, laid my head down on the pillow and felt a pleasing jolt of anticipation for the next day. I couldn't think why for a moment, then realised that it was because Amazon was delivering my new loo brush today.

I'm only 36. Surely this is as boring as I'll get?

My slipper boots fell apart last week (cheap crap from tesco)

I ordered a new pair-vinted-new with tags

They are the most grannyifed slippers I've ever seen, but I was overjoyed when they arrived (even ds,who's turning me into a granny for real next year commented how 'granny' they are-and he wouldn't notice if I did a naked dance in front of him)

My feet have never been so comfy and warm

The other day,it got cold enough to turn the leccy blanket on (it must have been cold-dp turned it on)

Teamed with my brand new,100% cotton and bought from the dumlem sale (normally buy asda) bedding set

I RAN so fast up the stairs to bed,I almost fell back down them again

I also get to buy some more of my fave fabric conditioner tomorrow-I'm so excited

Jesus,I need a life

After the chaos that ensued when I missed TWO fortnightly garden refuse collections (one I clean forgot, waited two weeks, so pleased I remembered, but I hadn't stuck the sticker on to prove I'd paid! It was sat on the side!), imagine the excitement when DH checked the planner and, against all odds, there was a recycling collection on Boxing Day! Boxing Day people!

Sharontheodopolodous · 04/01/2024 22:40

Oh,I forgot I ordered a wooden clothes airer on ebay

I almost shed tears of joy when it arrived

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 04/01/2024 22:45

I've got my pyjamas warming on the radiator upstairs. I keep looking up at ceiling and having a wee smirk to myself. I'm 45 and 3/4 years old.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 04/01/2024 22:47

I've spent all day making sourdough and making my own butter, using up cream. Havent set foot out of the door.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 04/01/2024 22:50

(I told my dd that I thought the cupboard was warmer than the living room, for proofing purposes, and she said , you know that bit in Gavin and Stacey where Stacy says, Oh Pam, you're boring me now. Well, on that subject...

TheDogsMother · 04/01/2024 22:50

I finished work then got onto my jigsaw for the first time since before Christmas. I was really happy

NeverMindIGuess · 04/01/2024 22:52

I'm not into my 30s yet. I've always envied people who walk past and you can smell their clean clothes. I also absolutely detest doing washing.
Last week I found the combination of tablets and softener I needed, and bulk brought both. My washing basket is feeling a bit empty inside and my washing machine is hoping it can have a day off since.

My husband announced that the recycling and rubbish collections being missed last week were 'getting him down'. The bin men have been today and he's hit peak excitement. What a loser

This made me laugh so much, thank you 😆

whatsappdoc · 04/01/2024 22:57

I was fairly nonchalant about receiving my new pack of 4 toothbrush protectors but dp got me hyped up updating me with the Amazon email notifications. Last night - 'they're at the depot', this morning - 'they're out for delivery' and this afternoon while we were in the pub - 'they've been delivered!'. I raced home so excited to try them out.

I’ve just ordered a new planner. If that wasn’t exciting enough, it has a separate bit each week to write out a shopping list!

I’ve never had a planner before. I think it will be life changing.

I've just read your post and felt a little thrill of excitement at the realisation that I too could own a planner

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/01/2024 22:58

I have been delighted that over the last couple of days, I have put away the Crimbo dex, left myself a note of what is where, taken the cards down and made gift tags for next year, using a craft stamp/cutter thing and my ribbon box. Put away the Christmas mugs, hoping one won't emerge from somewhere Can't tell you how thrilled I am! I feel like I'm back in control of SpongeWorld again! Very satisfying, and very sad! Grin

SeaToSki · 04/01/2024 22:59

I got a wonderful ‘Peeps’ pocket sized glasses cleaner for Christmas, its some charcoal charged thingy and it gets my glasses perfectly clean with a quick swipe (no faffing with sprays and cloths etc) I love it so much I ordered an extra 3 pack (in hot pink no less) so that I can keep one in my handbag, one at my desk, one in the kitchen and have one in reserve when I loose one. They are arriving tomorrow and I am very excited.

sprigatito · 04/01/2024 23:02

I waited in all day for my new pyjamas to arrive yesterday, then had a bath at 3pm and changed into them. Today I spent making a giant vat of soup from leftover turkey and bone stock. Now doing a jigsaw puzzle of cats and balls of yarn...while watching Agatha Christie. I was born middle aged and boring Grin

uncomfortablydumb53 · 04/01/2024 23:04

I bought a new fabric conditioner today and have put washing in the machine ready to put it on in the morning!
I'm easily pleased

I’m really excited about my new shower drain cover arriving- good times.

Oohh is it an OXO one? If so, then you SHOULD be excited! 😆

I once got excited over a new bottle of grout cleaner. 😆

I’ve got nothing to add re the toilet brush, but I had to say how much I love the way you’ve put this, op. Just delightful.

As for the pp who mentioned two phone chargers, I could never categorise those as boring. Whenever I finally get round to ordering phone-related accessories (memory bank, new headphones, additional chargers), I always feel my life is about to turn a corner. An end to hunting high and low for the one charger in the house and the anxiety of being at 2% battery, no more crackling audio - the good times are here!

Lol, I find it rather endearing!

We're going to buy a second dehumidifier tomorrow so it'll be here for the weekend. All that damp reducing upstairs and downstairs at the same time!

Oh I love ours. I feel like a winner every time I realise it needs emptying.

1stTimeMama · 04/01/2024 23:20

I'm about to buy a straw cleaning brush and a magnetic, acrylic calendar. I'm already excited about their arrival, and haven't even ordered them yet.

BringMeSunshine48 · 04/01/2024 23:24

I sold an item on vinted for £5 more than I purchased it for. The excitement was next level. I need to get out more.

CassTheFox · 04/01/2024 23:25

I saw a long tailed tit today. Took a photo and whats app’ed it to loads of friends and family as I was so excited. Probably been blocked by them all now 😂

Keeping on with the bathroom theme; I'm ridiculously pleased that my new stick on the wall toilet roll holder has stayed stuck on the wall 😂

I had this same conversation with dh this morning. High five, fellow bore!

It's remarkable and now plan to buy another for the bathroom the kids use; which they'll most likely rip from the wall because I've been so smug.
