Surely I've summited Peak Boring?

This happened last night but I'm still mildly appalled with myself.

I was in bed, kissed DH goodnight, laid my head down on the pillow and felt a pleasing jolt of anticipation for the next day. I couldn't think why for a moment, then realised that it was because Amazon was delivering my new loo brush today.

I'm only 36. Surely this is as boring as I'll get?

Shook with joy when the teabag holders I ordered from Etsy landed today. I think they are going to be game changers for me. Life enhancing even.

Eagerly waiting for a vintage teapot and matching cup set to arrive.

When I think about the things that used to excite me…I can’t quite believe my life has come to this.

Oooh I crave a beautiful vintage teapot and matching cup! Etsy, you say?

I came across some little, heavy forks at only 50p each in our normally expensive department store and excitedly bought six to use as a cake fork. Weighted forks (full sized) with perfectly sized tines and which rest properly in the hand give me a worrying amount of pleasure and are hard to track down. Same with teaspoons...

DH rolls his eyes whenever I announce that I'm off to the tip. According to him, the better method of getting rid of a huge cardboard box is to cut it into pieces with a Stanley knife and fill up the entire recycling bin 🙄

Madness!

And also miss a chance for a Tip run?

Madness, I tell you 🤪

I recently got excited about a parcel arriving even though I know full well that it was clothespegs.

Yesterday while doing my jigsaw puzzle (after finishing some knitting) I thought about filling out my January planner and decided to leave it for today for something to enjoy. It has a monthly section so you list the things to remember each month, its brilliant for remembering birthdays and annual budgeting stuff like insurance payments.

LilacpointMummy · 05/01/2024 12:33

Oh I love a tip trip too!
Am also the proud owner of multiple socktopi 😆

LilacpointMummy · 05/01/2024 12:34

Last year I spent many happy hours researching the perfect peg bag (I have quite strict criteria) and was v v excited when it arrived.
It has been a v successful purchase!

Anybody else have a special tea spoon? It isn't fancy it's pretty bog standard IKEA special to be honest but I don't mind over washing it so I use it every time and leave the others nice.

PuttingDownRoots · 05/01/2024 15:08

Currently at the park. When taking pictures of unknown ducks to look up later, I suddenly realised I could just Google search them.

So now I know it was a pair of Egyptian Geese fighting on the slide.

I have to drink my coffee out of a particular mug. It's cheap and very ordinary but my coffee tastes wrong out of any other mug or cup 😁

uncomfortablydumb53 · 05/01/2024 16:16

@Andnowshesatoddler
I have not only a special teaspoon, I also have a special fork. It's a rod handle, with smooth tines
I love using my small palette knife too

I wish there was a way I could confine my Mumsnet exposure to lovely gentle threads like this, without spats and nastiness. I’m thinking of giving up because getting drawn into the conflict and negativity is not good for my metal health, but this is the sort of thing I’ll miss. And no, thread titles alone are never enough to predict which threads will go well!

mbosnz · 05/01/2024 17:09

Dad got the point that possibly Mum's life was getting a little on the monotonous side, when he asked her what had happened in her day.

After a long pause, 'weeeeeell, I opened a new box of washing powder', says she. . .

GammonAndEggs · 05/01/2024 17:22

@Andnowshesatoddler YES to a favourite teaspoon! No idea where it came from originally but my wonderful DH bought me a tub of ice cream and handed over the spoon, saying, ‘you’re gonna LOVE this’ and he was right!

I get excited knowing I have a clean fresh bed to get into when I change the sheets. You're not alone!

Oh, I absolutely love getting onto a fresh bed. I'm extra excited because I've got some new bedding (from Asda 😁)

BirthdayRainbow · 05/01/2024 18:13

My bag has arrived which my son ordered for me on Wednesday. It's going to look after my Christmas tree until next December. So much better than the cumbersome cardboard box I've grappled with this year. Tomorrow I'll put it to bed in there as too cold in the garage at the moment. It's the small bits of happiness after my year from hell.

For the bin excitement, on Alexa, there's a bin calendar you can set up to tell you which bin goes out that week.

OMG I have never been so excited to use Alexa. Thank you!!

AKAanothername · 05/01/2024 18:43

My best pre-Christmas purchase was a step-stool for my kitchen, it means I don't have to climb on the dining room chairs to find stuff at the top of the kitchen cupboards.

Took me ages to find one that I liked and that fitted in a small gap by the kitchen door. I love it so much I have shown it off to everyone that has visited my house.

Xmasbaby11 · 05/01/2024 18:45

Oh no. I can’t really imagine that giving much pleasure tbh!

A bag? For the tree? Wowzer. Do you have the link? Of course I can Google....🙄

Bestyearever2024 · 05/01/2024 23:10
