Surely I've summited Peak Boring?

This happened last night but I'm still mildly appalled with myself.

I was in bed, kissed DH goodnight, laid my head down on the pillow and felt a pleasing jolt of anticipation for the next day. I couldn't think why for a moment, then realised that it was because Amazon was delivering my new loo brush today.

I'm only 36. Surely this is as boring as I'll get?

My mother gave me a handhild hoover as an anniversary present. I was waxing lyrical to DH how brilliant it was when I noticed he was looking at me oddly... . He agrees its useful though.

mrsfollowill · 04/01/2024 22:00

@DrunkenElephant OMG it is!!! isn't it amazing 😂I love it - the idle Vax had truly had it's day- pretending to clean the carpets he was!

LyndaSnellsSniff · 04/01/2024 22:01

I've put the bins out on the wrong day TWO weeks running. I studied the Christmas Collection list super carefully but still got it wrong.

I find this hilarious and have told anybody who'll listen all about my bin exploits. I pride myself on my correct bin collection knowledge so this is a whole new me!

🤣🚮

My new tumble dryer arrived this week. I've had to bite my tongue not to talk about it at work.

Hahaha that reminds me of the time I spent an entire lunch break telling my (all-male apart from me, including a new dad) department about the joys of a peg octopus. None of them had a peg octopus! The new dad had no tumble dryer either! He had been pegging up baby vests one by one onto a washing line!!!

He went on amazon and bought a peg octopus before my very eyes and admitted a few days later that it had come in useful already.

CountFucula · 04/01/2024 22:01

I’ve got some posh knitwear moth spray arriving tomorrow. Can’t WAIT.

OpenedMyEyes · 04/01/2024 22:02

I bought a new cutlery basket for my dishwasher, to stop the bastarding cutlery falling through the holes in the old one which prevented the lower section from pulling out properly. It is now a joy to open the dishwasher and see the new basket. 48 and proudGrin

JamSandle · 04/01/2024 22:05

I love doing laundry!

Cakeonthefloor · 04/01/2024 22:05

Several weeks ago I bought a coach ticket from Bristol to London for £3.50. I told everyone I worked with at least twice. The visit has long gone but I still think.... all that way for £3.50......

CaptainPhillips · 04/01/2024 22:06

I once got £40 of john lewis vouchers and bought 3 toilet brushes!
I mean, what planet was I on that I didn't put it towards some perfume or makeup or a nice candle?!
But in that moment, I didn't want or need anything else....🙈

Keeping on with the bathroom theme; I'm ridiculously pleased that my new stick on the wall toilet roll holder has stayed stuck on the wall 😂

I've spent a long time with my amazon app and a tape measure measuring the 3 very small gaps in the bathroom where I might be able to slide a set of storage shelves WITH WHEELS. I've got a large collection of bubble bath bottles and I need to get them out of the windowsill. If the storage shelves don't fit I will cry.

Shook with joy when the teabag holders I ordered from Etsy landed today. I think they are going to be game changers for me. Life enhancing even.

Eagerly waiting for a vintage teapot and matching cup set to arrive.

When I think about the things that used to excite me…I can’t quite believe my life has come to this.

DrunkenElephant · 04/01/2024 22:09

@mrsfollowill I KNEW it!

I had a Dyson before, so a bloody expensive pretend vacuum cleaner. I still have it in the cupboard and give it a look of disgust every time I get my Shark out.

Jeelypieces20storeys · 04/01/2024 22:11

I invited my mum round today to see my new ......kettle. It's just a kettle, nothing fancy, but it's shiny & new.

I'm also looking forward to cleaning my new air fryer. I need to get a life.

MrsElsa · 04/01/2024 22:11

I finally wrangled a dining table into the house and get excited to CLEAR IT OFF and WIPE IT DOWN every night.

MrsElsa · 04/01/2024 22:12

@Jeelypieces20storeys I'm still excited by my new toaster and that was at least 6 weeks ago! Showed it to a colleague haha

FMSucks · 04/01/2024 22:22

Can’t wait for my new very boring middle aged woman pjs to arrive tomorrow. They are half cotton, half modal which I’m hoping will keep my peri menopausal body cooler in bed. I’ve spent hours over Christmas researching the best fabrics for night sweats! What has my life become 😤

I hit peak boring when I was overjoyed to find chocolate rich tea biscuits in Aldi.Even did thread about it on here.

My husband announced that the recycling and rubbish collections being missed last week were 'getting him down'. The bin men have been today and he's hit peak excitement. What a loser

😆😆 I think we have a winner.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 04/01/2024 22:26

Last Christmas I asked DH for a fancy expensive chopping board, he thought i was taking the piss. But I loved it, 4 boards colour coded with 4 knives that sit in it. I have reluctantly 'played' with that toy more than any other present I've ever gotten. Got lots of lovely gifts this year but nothing that excited me the same way!

Philandbill · 04/01/2024 22:28

We're going to buy a second dehumidifier tomorrow so it'll be here for the weekend. All that damp reducing upstairs and downstairs at the same time!

You found what ???

KingsleyBorder · 04/01/2024 22:33

I was genuinely thrilled when I realised that the door of my tumble dryer could be swapped round to open in the opposite direction!

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 04/01/2024 22:35

I can better that.
Amazon delivered me two new loo brushes last week.
I was extremely happy 😊

thedementedelf · 04/01/2024 22:38

I got the orchid wet cloths for my flash speed mop and couldn't wait to get home to mop the floor.
