Surely I've summited Peak Boring?

BlowDryRat · 04/01/2024 20:54

This happened last night but I'm still mildly appalled with myself.

I was in bed, kissed DH goodnight, laid my head down on the pillow and felt a pleasing jolt of anticipation for the next day. I couldn't think why for a moment, then realised that it was because Amazon was delivering my new loo brush today.

I'm only 36. Surely this is as boring as I'll get?

Anybody else have a special tea spoon? It isn't fancy it's pretty bog standard IKEA special to be honest but I don't mind over washing it so I use it every time and leave the others nice.

Not just one. When we moved house and couldn't find our cutlery I went to The Big Tesco and bought a set to tide us over. It turned out that this set had the perfect teaspoons in it - just right for a cup of coffee. Obviously they all kept going missing so I was genuinely overjoyed when I was walking through John Lewis on my way back from a meeting when I a) spotted more identical teaspoons and b) found I had 20% off cutlery on my JL rewards app. Truly, it was a day to remember.

I'm now looking up wall-hanging silicone loo brushes thanks to this thread 😂

I wish there was a way I could confine my Mumsnet exposure to lovely gentle threads like this, without spats and nastiness. I’m thinking of giving up because getting drawn into the conflict and negativity is not good for my metal health, but this is the sort of thing I’ll miss. And no, thread titles alone are never enough to predict which threads will go well!

I know exactly what you mean.

Should we all petition Mumsnet for a Gentle/Cosy/Boring board?

Mumoftwo1312 · 04/01/2024 21:17

I wouldn't even say that's boring! Just practical!

I can one-up your toilet brush...

I was pleased to open an amazon parcel full of incontinence pads today (we put them under the baby's cot sheet).

Incontinence pads are the best. You can put them under your bedsheet when you're on your period too.

Or just buy period pants. Now THEY'RE lifechanging! 🙌

Yes please 🙂

My husband has just suggested we buy a bigger airfryer. I bought the first one as I often splurge my own money on kitchen items cos I'm sad like that. But this was his idea, he's paying for it! I'm extatic. I've wanted an upgrade for ages!!

LemongrassLollipop · 06/01/2024 03:22

Which Shark did you go for? Would you mind posting a link? My vacuum has given up and I desperately need a replacement. Tip run for the old one to follow 🙂

BirthdayRainbow · 06/01/2024 07:22

I would have asked my ds for the ink, he ordered it it seems you found it yourself. Good stuff, @Bestyearever2024 🎄👝

garlictwist · 06/01/2024 07:24

My sister and I were having a conversation about what we considered to be the best day of our lives so far.

I decided mine was the day we moved into our new house and I had a whole day to myself unpacking and deciding where to put stuff.

Isn't that awful?

Highlighta · 06/01/2024 07:39

I bought my ds a smart watch for his birthday which was a few days ago, but I bought it in the BF sale and so I've had to hide it all this time. I could not wait for his birthday for him to open it and use it. (we are a bit tech lacking in this house).

The day arrived and he was elated, telling me his stress levels and bloody oxygen etc etc.

But the best bit is, I have been getting all excited in the mornings, and the first thing we do after saying good morning now, is to check how well he slept. 😂

DrunkenElephant · 06/01/2024 08:27

@LemongrassLollipop i have this one -

Deal: Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner [NZ801UKT] Powered Lift-Away with Anti-Hair Wrap Technology, Pet Hair, Navy and Orange https://amzn.eu/d/fdvXho8

I don’t think the cordless ones are meant to be as good but I may be wrong!

MY NEW CREVICE BRUSHES HAVE ARRIVED!

BlowDryRat · 06/01/2024 10:03

And how are your crevices coping?

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 06/01/2024 10:24

I'm looking forward to concentrating on bedding for us all and sheets and organising all their drawers where they go.
Cleaning, dousing in lavender, ironing to make duvets smaller to squeeze in. Re ordering sets where the pillow cases have be come removed from the correct duvet and so on.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 06/01/2024 10:40

What are tea bag organisers!

HoldMeCloserTonyDancer · 06/01/2024 11:49

My lovely rattan tray that I was planning to put my mugs on has gone missing!! Think it’s been delivered to the wrong house ☹️

PuttingDownRoots · 06/01/2024 14:20

I've been away for a few days. While gone, DH took delivery of an ultrasonic cleaning machine, mostly for business use... but it does glasses, watches, jewellery etc as well. He's very happy with his new toy.

MerryMarigold · 06/01/2024 14:25

OK so not much excites me but today DH took the back seats out of the car for the first time for 6 years. (Where the kids sit). Wow, just wow! The dirt! And 3 Jenga bits, a pair of scissors and 5 pens. Cleaning it all up gave me a huge buzz.

allaloneandlost · 06/01/2024 14:34

What a great thread.

Another yes for this to be a topic 😃

Deathraystare · 06/01/2024 14:52

@Mumoftwo1312

Me too! But mine are for me! I don't put mine under my sheet but on top of.

Period pants do not work for me. Blood is thicker than water. I do not 'dribble' I have a tsunami!!

Deathraystare · 06/01/2024 14:59

@KingsleyBorder

A lovely area to chat is.. Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news calmly through the day

Everything to going to hospital (though thi might be too exciting to what you are planning for dinner. Lovely photos of local wildlife and shots of new ovens etc etc. Give it a whirl. No one kicks off!

FortunataTagnips · 06/01/2024 17:09

My crevices don’t know what’s hit them, @BlowDryRat !

Sickoffamilydrama · 04/01/2024 21:55

DH bought me a window bird feeder today so I'm excited to see what the birds make of it tomorrow.

I hope you have better luck than me.
Got one for Xmas about 4 years ago and.. not a Dickie Bird 🐦
Now languishing in the Attic. If I win the lottery and buy a country pile, I may have more success 🤞

The Robin 🐦‍⬛ has shown interest but I think I need to move it as right next to my desk so I suspect I spooked it.

BlowDryRat · 06/01/2024 19:50

I did a tip run today and managed to get the space right next to the cardboard container. I felt like royalty.

Clean bedsheets on... and I might be curled up already!
