Surely I've summited Peak Boring?

This happened last night but I'm still mildly appalled with myself.

I was in bed, kissed DH goodnight, laid my head down on the pillow and felt a pleasing jolt of anticipation for the next day. I couldn't think why for a moment, then realised that it was because Amazon was delivering my new loo brush today.

I'm only 36. Surely this is as boring as I'll get?

I LOVE this thread. I have been up
early all week because I’ve been having a mega sort out and declutter and I’ve been too excited about it to stay in bed!

You do know that loo brushes are a big no-no on MN don't you ? Grin

This thread has been such a pleasure to read.
My small happy achievement has been to walk down to Home Bargains and buy a bag of silica cat litter , come home and run up 4 decent size pouches into which I poured the entire bag of litter. Placed them in my van and no more condensation on the windscreen! I think about it when I go to bed, rather smugly, clear windscreen in the morning. Love it.

Im getting hole filler soon so I can fill in all the little holes around my home.
The holes no one notices but me.
The little press pin holes.
Oh the joy.
I did get excited during the year Amazon delivered my new step ladders.
Step ladders hole filler and me it's party time.😆

Is it a brushed brass one OP as I'm in the market for one and refuse to spend £40. The hours I've spent trawling... (welcome to middle age) GrinGrin

Breakthemould · 05/01/2024 00:11

I just wanted to say thanks to you all for making me feel so very much more normal after reading and relating to so many of your comments. It turns out I'm not quite as loserish as I thought I was getting 😂 which I'm really happy about. Cheers!

I got a laminator for Christmas and spent half the day gathering a huge pile of things I could put through it. Letters, kids art work ect, I can't wait to make a start on it tomorrow 😂

Nope. Laminating is FAR too exciting to be boring. Please tell me you also have an electronic label maker? Like I do.

LilacpointMummy · 05/01/2024 00:32

We get our electric from British gas, and so get half price electric on Sundays.

I save up all the washing and spend the whole 5 hours doing laundry, running the dishwasher and using the oven.

I'm looking forward to Sunday and half price laundry already 😆

Saw someone cleaning a floor today. It has been added to my 'must do' list.

DH and I are both VERY excited that the recycling bin is going tomorrow. I've had three conversations about it with different colleagues today 😂

Warrington had a bin strike between October and the week before Christmas.

Bin talk has been the subject of many conversations amongst friends who live there.

All these depressed and over eager bin enthusiasts would have been in their element.

There were conversations about how to elicitly take stuff over the county border by using someone else's postcode or taking your recycling to a friend's.

Never mind the talk of how long the queue was at the recycling centre. Or how no where has glass recycling in supermarkets anymore.

And when the bin men FINALLY started collecting. Omg the drama. Even the local paper was running three or four stories a day by the end.

You've all missed an absolute treat!

You've reminded me of one of my best purchases of 2023 (if not my life).

Wouldn't touch a toilet brush with a barge pole

WavingCatsandDogs · 05/01/2024 03:50

Managed to send a Vinted parcel before the 5 day guillotine!

I felt quite exulted, I almost fist bumped !

Catsmere · 05/01/2024 06:40

I was excited to receive a packet of adhesive vinyl chair protectors today.

I got a wonderful ‘Peeps’ pocket sized glasses cleaner for Christmas, its some charcoal charged thingy and it gets my glasses perfectly clean with a quick swipe (no faffing with sprays and cloths etc) I love it so much I ordered an extra 3 pack (in hot pink no less) so that I can keep one in my handbag, one at my desk, one in the kitchen and have one in reserve when I loose one. They are arriving tomorrow and I am very excited.

This I need. My glasses are always filthy and I don't know why.

I bought new slippers last week after the two pairs I panic bought just before lockdown are both looking very tatty. I was pretty excited when not only did I think about buying a second pair, they actually had another pair my size when I went to look yesterday. I'm nearly 51 and 11 months.

PuppyMonkey · 05/01/2024 07:33

It’s been really boring/quiet at work all week but today we’ve got to set up the new card payment machine and I’m really looking forward to going in now. Grin

DP and I have discovered a FB group called “The Dull Men’s Club” which is full of little gems like this thread. Highly recommended. It’s got loads of women in it.

Thank you but I'm not good at spending much on myself. I'll think about it today. I could use Christmas money..

user1471517095 · 05/01/2024 08:00

Thanks SeaToSki, I've just ordered a Peeps. I had no idea such a thing existed.

I was excited about taking the decorations down the other day
