Is there somewhere else like Afflecks Palace in Manchester

DD loved Afflecks but hated Manchester. Trying to think if there is somewhere else similar anywhere else, I remember Quiggins in Liverpool in the 1990s but that’s gone.
Or good centres for alternative type shopping? Camden Market wasn’t a hit with her, it was very noisy and lots of the same fake gear being sold.
thanks

Honestly, you're better off on etsy these days. Alot in afflecks is really expensive now. Failing that I think Leeds Corn Exchange might be still there.

I can’t think of anywhere exactly like Afflecks, but on Brick Lane in London you’ve got Rokit at the top, The Vintage Market and Upmarket further down (the latter has a big basement full of vintage clothes etc), then there’s the Backyard Market across the road, and Atika (vintage clothing) just off the main road. There’s lots of other boutiques and things round there.

Be warned it can be rammed at weekends. Spitalfields Market is just round the corner too, though she may find it a bit too much like Camden at this point.

Vinted 🤷‍♂️

Red Brick Markets might be worth a look, not exactly like Afflecks but don't think it's dissimilar. We're actually going to the Birmingham one tomorrow (think there's also one in Liverpool) so can let you know what it's like if you want?

SadCelticBunny · 29/12/2023 00:43

Oh some amazing memories of Afflecks and Quiggins when I lived on Merseyside!

Christmasmug · 29/12/2023 00:51

Also, don't know where you're based but there's a company called Darkside Markets (on FB) who run alternative events in my area (West Midlands). They tend to be about every 3 months and have loads of different traders, we went in October and there was some really cool stuff there, think the next one is March.

rubydoobydoo · 29/12/2023 00:51

Is it a bit like the Oasis market in Birmingham? Sadly no longer 😞

Daisychainsandglitter · 29/12/2023 05:02

Oasis market has gone really downhill. Not worth the bother. Used to be great but rubbish now.

helloisitmeyourelookingfor · 29/12/2023 05:26

Leeds corn exchange is still there but if you are looking for something similar to Aflecks you'd be very disappointed

We travel from Leeds to Manchester as there are hardly any alternative shops and the ones there are are very expensive

JayAlfredPrufrock · 29/12/2023 05:50

What didn’t she like about Manchester 🤔

garlictwist · 29/12/2023 06:21

The Dark Arches in Leeds used to be a bit like that in the 90s but long gone now.

TurkeyTwizlers · 29/12/2023 08:18

We’ve been to the Corn Mill and it has one of her favourite shops in there, it’s a bit posh these days isn’t it though. Compared to how I remember.

Were in the NE but always looking for short trips for her. It’s crap as what I need to do is take her back to the 90s obviously.

Shes ASD and just found Manchester City centre a bit overwhelming, and also didn’t like the shops apart from Afflecks.

We do go to London so I’ll put those ideas on my list!
@Christmasmug yes please. Liverpool would be a good place to visit if that market is any good, if there is one there.

She night like Bold Street in Liverpool. Still quite a few alternative and vintage clothing stores.
