What did you forget (but it didn't matter!)

Christmas Day missing items....

For us;

Kitchen Roll
Napkins
Crisps

No idea how they slipped through the net but inevitably we ran out of kitchen roll-not huge issue, just got through all the dishcloths wiping all the time...napkins was annoying though- especially as we had no kitchen roll! The crisps - how I forgot I don't know but thankfully cheese & crackers were sufficient!

What about you?

Only bought one packet of dd favourite crisps.

Had no tray for the turkey.

Forgot to oil the roast potatoes

A few other things that I can't remember just now.

Me and dd are full of the cold. None of it mattered, we all mucked in and had a lovely relaxing day looking like shit in our pjs Grin

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 26/12/2023 14:59

I just realised I forgot to squash the potatoes slightly before they went back in the oven. But this has just occurred to me and we ate on Christmas Eve.

BrightBaubles · 26/12/2023 19:58

Not too bad then!

To buy a gravy jug (again!)

Grumpynan · 26/12/2023 20:06

I made some lovely cranberry sauce with some port added, then forgot to put it out 🙄 no one missed it

Theimpossiblegirl · 26/12/2023 20:07

I forgot to put the shallots in with the roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots. No-one noticed.

I've got enough to do another tray bake meal.

spurs4ever · 26/12/2023 20:07

Stuffing, normally one of my favourite parts. Managed to source some Paxo though so Christmas was saved! X

ErikaReadsTheDailyMail · 26/12/2023 20:27

I forgot to buy Christmas pudding... no one else likes it so no one else cared but I LOVE it...
It did matter 😭

BrightBaubles · 26/12/2023 20:56

Oh no re the Christmas pudding

But there will be lots in the reduced section now to tuck into during 'twixmas'!

@Grumpynan freeze it for next year.

Onesmallstepforaman · 26/12/2023 20:58

The pigs in blankets!

BerriesNutsConkers · 26/12/2023 21:01

I'm still looking for a box ofafter eights and some chocolate coins that I put safe.......

43ontherocksporfavor · 26/12/2023 21:06

@BerriesNutsConkers lol that sounds like me. Saw a great tip on here for next time you put things in a safe place- set an alarm in your phone for when you need it , saying where it is!

That is genius.

I have still not found 3 hand crafted Christmas decorations that I bought from a Christmas market a few years ago. I've hidden them so well (or accidentally thrown them out)

I think I used 3 sheets of kitchen roll on Christmas Day and that's 3 more than I do on days for 95% of the year. What do you use it for?

loadypoady · 26/12/2023 21:12

Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese plus I couldn’t find the cranberry sauce. All our plates were overflowing though with the other veg plus turkey and pork.
Im still stuffed if I’m honest and will be glad to be at work tomorrow to not have time to think about all of the excess food and drink still to get through.

loadypoady · 26/12/2023 21:14

ps I purposely didn’t buy Xmas cracker this year due to the the waste they create. No one even noticed or if they did were too polite to mention it.
I hate Xmas crackers.

Wiping up after kids...wiping sides down.... absorbing the condensation from the slow cooker...We don't use huge amounts of it, I was meaning there wasn't a replacement in and we had just the last bits on the roll that was out- and it would have been handy as a napkin replacement seeing as I forgot those...

Bread sauce was forgotten about completely. Which I do feel bad about as it was specifically asked for. I remembered at 8pm. The very polite relative that had asked politely pretended they’d also forgotten. Which was kind of them.

We forgot about the yorkshires until the smoke alarm went off 😅They were chucked in to heat up for a few minutes while other stuff was put out and then we all got sidetracked.

We do Yorkshires some years, then not others. No rhyme or reason. This year was no Yorkshires

We forgot the pigs in blankets which were right at the back of the oven. Remembered them a couple of hours later, so had them as a snack - still warm, luckily not burned but definitely crispy!

Hedjwitch · 26/12/2023 21:19

Forgot to buy Yorkshires and forgot to serve the stuffing balls which we found still in the oven today.
Have lost a tiny wee glass dragon which should have been in dd2s stocking.

Judellie · 26/12/2023 21:28

Forgot to take the turnip to my mum's. Wandered into the kitchen earlier and saw it by the breadbin. Only i really like it anyway.
Also, my mum said she had broccoli. I forgot to look for it - but not too keen on it anyway.
Neither thing was a big deal. We did also manage to run out of Frylight and had to go to Tesco for that today. Decided just to eat in their cafe too when we got there.

Same! I looked and they were a pile of shit so I didn't buy. Only today at the in-laws when some were on the table DH announced we forgot to buy crackers for yesterday
