Good point about fridge temp. I remember being perplexed about my milk going sour before the use by date - it was an issue with the fridge (and had to get a new one, actually).

I put it in the freezer in a bag ready to take to the dump on Boxing Day 😷🤢

I asked my DH who is a michelin starred celebrity chef and he said don't eat it too.

Just a tip for anyone - if you have beef that isn’t being eaten the same day ALWAYS unwrap it and salt it and leave it uncovered in the fridge until it’s needed.

1 it won’t sit in its juices and get all slimy and gross, and 2 it will be seasoned perfectly as the salt draws out some moisture (almost like a home version of dry aging)

You can leave salted uncovered steak in the fridge for ages! Also if you want to go one further have a look at buying some koji granules for beef that will blow your mind.

Don't dump it. Return it! Who did you buy it from?

Or get it from a good butcher who can vacuum pack it - mine hasn't oxidised at all. Got a good bit of extra fat in with it too.
