Alexandra Palace

I need some advice mumsnetters. I've bought tickets to a gig in the Alexandra Palace in February for my teenage son and I. We live in Worcestershire. Can anyone recommend a cheap but decent hotel near to the venue and is it possible to get in to and park near that area or best to train (were travelling down on a Friday afternoon). Cheers

If Wood Green is no longer a shit hole then it must have improved an awful lot in the last couple of years. When we lived in the area there were frequent gang fights on the high street at night, muggings and a very high crime rate overall. Somewhere you wouldn't mind letting your kids go shopping in the day or get the bus through (as mine did) but probably not somewhere you'd recommend people wander about at night without being sure where they are going. I stand corrected.

I grew up knowing wood green well ... it is not for out of towners.

Posts like these are just nonsense. When is the last time you have been in the area?

police statistics seem to agree

Just be aware, if you're coming by rail, Alexandra Palace station is half a mile away from AP itself at the bottom of the hill AP stands on. If you're both fit, you won't be bothered by the half-mile steep walk! Otherwise, get the W3 bus.

Went to Wood Green on Monday, I can confirm it’s still a complete shithole.

Thanks all SOO much for all the suggestions and advice. I've booked the Premier Inn, New Southgate. Means I can drive and park, 30 min walk to the venue if we're feeling fit. And you're right- I'll still
Never be cool to my teen Grin
