Someone marked my car last night? Target?

Hi all,

Woke up this morning to XX4 marked on the passenger side of my car. It wasn't there yesterday so must have been marked sometime in the night. A bit weirded out considering most of the day it's just myself and 3 kids, hence the "4". DH goes to work in the early am and back late in the evening. What do you think it is? Am I overthinking?

I called 101 for advice and they said if anything happens to call 999& also put a chair behind the front door to block anyone coming in.

im fairly sure those who go about nicking ranger rovers or other types of car have the latest iphone (other brands also available) with apps like google maps and snapchat which i believe is the locator app of choice for the young and trendy.. why would they mark your car potentially leaving DNA when all they need to do is drop a pin ???

Or perhaps go old school and just tell the person going to actually steal it, "it's parked overnight at 5, Park Street, big detached house with a blue door" - or just WhatsApp them the address.

Wouldn't it be a bit inefficient for the guy with the burglary/car starting skills to just wonder around all night in a certain area the gang are targeting looking for signs that might have been washed off or not visible in the dark?
