Help to find a large rug

Shithole101 · 14/12/2023 19:12

Can anyone help me find a rug . I need it to be dark or medium dark blue . I need it to be at least 230cm by 290cm and hopefully under 200. I'm not worried about quality as such as I don't have the money for that. Just want to cheer the room up a bit .

Go to a rug shop and ask for a large one

Just saying large can mean anything. Anything above 200cm wide seems hard to get plus there's delivery charges plus I would have thought I have more chance on line rather than 1 shop . As there's lots of choice on line. Not that I'm getting much luck. I also don't drive and shops that sell rugs are not that close to each other .

I'm on the hunt for a new large rug too op
Also not expensive
Dunelm's are beautiful - they have a new teddy one that I really like but leaning more towards ikea or wayfair

PS for anyone else interested - the TKMaxx / Homesense rugs
we bought are wool or wool/cotton mix, or 80%wool20% polyprop/nylon
We haunted the store for weeks (months), but well worth the wait,
hand woven runners, large rugs, dense pile or flat, they last for years.

OP - TKMaxx, we have over the last 5 years had beautiful rugs,
same as HomeSense
or IKEA

blue in Winter will not cheer up your room - if you already have blue
furnishings, terracotta or rust looks classy, expensive, warm, complementary
with blue

OR two rugs the same, size and colour, side by side

I was kind of thinking is blue such a good idea . I can't have it to light either though. As I have dogs and children and it's likely to get grubby.

With 2 rugs It would have a line/seam down the middle

I'm going to look at your colour suggestions

I just got this. There was a 50% of voucher so I have got it for 66.00 I'm a little worried about the colour. I think it might be lighter than the picture.

What colour are your walls? Mustard yellow looks amazing with dark blue or otherwise coppery shades would go well.

I am like you and been after a new rug to brighten up my lounge all year, not found anything nice so sticking to the really old one for now. I’m after plum/burgundy but either the colours are wrong or the quality is worse than my cheap old one. Hoping I can find one in the January sales.

🙈 youd even posted that you had before I posted 😂

I was too busy looking on Amazon, I’ve got a very similar one which is why I was looking, it was hard to find really big cheap rugs - till I realised Amazon had them.

belleadele · 15/12/2023 14:51

I got a good one on Ellos a couple of weeks ago. They had a huge range of sizes and the prices were good. I got a wool one 130 x 165cm for about 65 pounds.

Marzipan23 · 15/12/2023 15:31

george (asda) do really good quality rugs for a reasonable price.
if budget is super tight maybe try charity shops or ebay? charity shops always steam upholstery and rugs to sanitise, i've had a couple of good ones from british heart foundation.

Lorrymum · 15/12/2023 15:55

TK Maxx haș some beautiful rugs. I bought a large one online and delivered 2 days later. 100 per cent wool and gorgeous, very soft underfoot and doesnt
move. I had searched every outlet possible (Dunelm, The Range, Asda, Amazon etc) and this was £99.00 and much nicer than anything else I had seen in stores.

IdealisticCynic · 15/12/2023 18:32

Have you looked on Rugvista? You can filter by size, colour and price. And they have a sale on at the moment. I bought a huge wool rug from them for a really good price in a sale about a year ago.

for anyone else looking IKEA do have rugs that are larger than those shown on line .I got a lovely wool one ,but you have to endure the hell that is shopping in store .

shams05 · 15/12/2023 19:07

If you're near any independent carpet shops, they will do the edging on roll end carpet pieces if you find one you like.

Monstermunchy · 15/12/2023 21:29

Second vote for Rugvista - I’ve just bought a large rug from there for under £200 - it’s around 200x300cm - really chuffed with it

Popquizer · 16/12/2023 00:17

I buy most of mine from kukoonrugs.com or Wayfair. Kukoon are cheap with quick delivery.

SnowyMcSnowball · 16/12/2023 00:21

Wayfair online. Every size!
