Bidding on EBay, help!

user6776 · 21/11/2023 20:24

Desperate to win an item but it's currently got 14 bids and 20 watchers with 40 minutes to go 😅

How do I win this!? Should I submit my highest bid now or wait as late as possible? Really don't want to lose out at last min!

Can any experienced eBay shoppers give me some tips?

And of course sheer nosiness means we need to know what it is Grin. Maybe tell us after you've won it!

user6776 · 21/11/2023 20:52

@FelicityGraceSpoon It's nothing too exciting haha, just a beauty box which is sold out and isn't being restocked. I'm an idiot for paying over the odds I know!

7 minutes to go!

I tend to bid at last minute

greengreengrass25 · 21/11/2023 20:54

Good luck

FelicityGraceSpoon · 21/11/2023 20:56

What's the beauty box? I work in the beauty box industry (I know - what a ridiculous sounding job!) so I've probably got it in my storage unit 😀

FelicityGraceSpoon · 21/11/2023 20:57

CB Luxury edit? That's very recently sold out.

Anyway I'm distracting you. Don't tell me

user6776 · 21/11/2023 20:57

Somebody's outbid me with 3 minutes to go! What do I do?

OP posts:
user6776 · 21/11/2023 20:57

@FelicityGraceSpoon It's the boots beauty awards box

Current bid is 97.50

Totally over invested in this! Do the 13 second thing I reckon.

Sleepthief · 21/11/2023 20:58

I've won loads of eBay bids by waiting until 10 seconds to go and submitting my highest bid - that way noone has the opportunity to submit a bid 49p over my highest... hope it works out for you though 🤞

justcantgetenough · 21/11/2023 20:58

How much originally?

NigelHarmansNewWife · 21/11/2023 20:59

If you are prepared to pay more, get your highest bid ready and press submit with about three seconds to go

user6776 · 21/11/2023 21:00

Andddd I didn't win it 😑

OP posts:
justcantgetenough · 21/11/2023 21:00

£127 was it you?

NigelHarmansNewWife · 21/11/2023 21:00

If you didn't win it, there's another one with a day to go.

user6776 · 21/11/2023 21:01

justcantgetenough · 21/11/2023 21:00

£127 was it you?

My max bid was £125 which I submitted with seconds to go

OP posts:
FelicityGraceSpoon · 21/11/2023 21:01

I wouldn't go too bonkers as I believe the value of it was less than £300 so don't get carried away!

user6776 · 21/11/2023 21:01

It's probably a sign I shouldn't be an idiot and pay over the odds for something which only retailed for £55 in the first place

OP posts:
user6776 · 21/11/2023 21:02

@FelicityGraceSpoon Yeah it's worth £280. Such a bargain though when it originally sold for £55! Been dying to get my hands on it for weeks.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 21/11/2023 21:02

In fact there are several. Find one where the auction ends at a busy time of day so you've less competition.

FelicityGraceSpoon · 21/11/2023 21:03

@user6776 exactly. Take your £125 and just purchase the bits you were drawn to in the box in the first place.

user6776 · 21/11/2023 21:04

@FelicityGraceSpoon This is a great idea! Might just do that to be honest.
