Anyone with a mirena coil can answer a question please.

Hi all

Yes I know I need to take a pregnancy test but my periods have always been very regular since my coil was fitted so even a day late is unusual.

Just curious to know if anyone has experienced their periods randomly stopping whilst having the coil fitted?

I don't believe I am pregnant but will do a test later.

Sorry posted in Women's health but no answer so thought I'd post here for traffic.

i've recently (in the last 4 months) had my mirena removed. i had it in for almost 4 years and around 18 months ago my periods started to go a bit bonkers. irregular and longer (whereas previously they were fairly regular). apparently this can be a sign of the mirena wearing out.

i've had it removed completely at drs recommendation as have been on hormonal contraceptives in one form or another since i was 19 and am now almost 40. giving my body a break.

My first mirena I had no periods at all throughout. I'm 2.5 years into my second coil and I've just started spotting around the time of my cycle in the last 4/5 months. I'm not pregnant but I think it could be approaching peri menopause.

How long have you had the coil? It can take a while to stop periods. Mine are pretty random.

It's been in for 2 years now.

My periods stopped within 6 months if having a mirena coil fitted

Hi all,

I did a test and not pregnant :-)

I have started spotting lightly so this might be the beginning.

On my second mirena. Periods didn't stop until towards the end of the first one, and it did happen quite abruptly, but they had been getting lighter.

Had several more as in past 15yrs, whenever they go in I have light spotting for 2-3 months then no periods at all.
