How old is your bed / mattress?

I have no idea how old mine is. I think I sharpied on the underside whrn we bought it so I will try to look tomorrow.

I was reaching out to turn over last night and put my hand inside onto the broken spins. It's totally buggered! Every spin on mine and dhs side where we sit to get up / lay down has snapped now

Our bed and mattress isn't that old, but our old bed and mattress were bought in 2002 - my first house.
Only upgraded as DH and I now have a room big enough for a king size.
We slept in the old bed last week, as it's now a bed for visiting family, while I was painting our room. It's still incredibly comfortable (for me, DH is less keen).

DS1 must be about 10 years old - although the bed has been sawn in half to turn it from a mid sleeper into a standard height bed.

DS2 - 4year old.

If you’re really happy with your mattress and have had it for a decent amount of time, would you mind sharing the brand? Ours is only about 3 years old and sagging and uncomfortable. So I’m seriously thinking of replacing it but don’t want to make the same mistake again! It wasn’t cheap either.

Bed is 6 years old - it’s an expensive timber frame and it should last a lifetime! The mattress is also 6 years old. We spent about £1.8k on it (after a lot of research) and flip/turn it fairly regularly (although it is very heavy so it’s not as often as we should!) and we keep a cover on it. I’m hoping it has a good few years left in it but knowi need to turn it more often!

We recently got a Simba mattress in the guest room - I sometimes sleep in there and am amazed at how comfy it is. We had the same comments from friends who stayed recently too and they have just bought the same one for their bed.

9 years old. Quarrata SORRENTO Contemporary Italian Leather Bed from Head2bed and a tempur mattress and pillows.

About £4k in total and we sacrificed quite a lot to pay for it but we haven't regretted it for a moment. Cosiest bed ever.

19 years, both bed and mattress (warren evans). Still good!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/11/2023 07:03

Bed base (2 divan types linked) over 35 years now.

Mattress, probably 10, but there’s always a quilted protector on it, and we do turn it now and then, so it’s still OK.

@FinanceLPlates - ours is button and sprung. Mattress and bed. We went to showroom to try them, and they are super helpful. All natural materials also which I liked.

We've just replaced ours. We've had the bed about five years but it was just meant to be a cheap stop gap. DH has had the mattress since before we met - maybe 8-9 years?

megletthesecond · 14/11/2023 07:12

Both 2006. Bought it when I was pregnant. All the drawers underneath are broken.

I'd love to upgrade to an ottoman for storage but I can't afford it.

CrunchyCarrot · 14/11/2023 07:28

4.5 years old. I'm aware they need replacing fairly often. I need mine to be in a good state as I have chronic lower back issues. The bed frame however is around 20 or so years old.

The mattress we have is a John Lewis Ortho Supreme 1600 Pocket Spring Mattress.

Bedframe - 26 years old.
Current mattress - 5 years

Bought a new bed and mattress in July. Moved house, decorated the bedroom and finally upgraded to a king size after 20 years in a double.

MidnightMeltdown · 14/11/2023 15:49

Bed is 3 years old, but the mattress is 6. Thinking about replacing the mattress. It's memory foam which I don't really like.

ThreeRingCircus · 14/11/2023 16:07

DH is making noises about replacing our mattress. It's 7 years old which I think is around the time they say you should replace it but it's still in great nick so I don't want to yet. It looks clean as we use a mattress protector but I'm sure it's probably full of sweat 🤢. I'm worried about replacing it and the new one not being as good.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 14/11/2023 17:43

Funny you should ask that as we changed our mattress today. Our bed frame is over 25 years old, and this is the third mattress we've had on it. It is a Premier Inn one, so I will feed back about how good (or bad) it is!
