Friend's 60th - Present ideas please

Friend is 60 and we're meeting up but I have no idea, and very little time, to think of anything present wise.

She is comfortably off so isn't really in need of anything. Likes yoga, walking and reading but has all of the gear, Audible etc. Doesn't really drink and is healthy so won't like sugary stuff. Jewellery/clothes too personal plus she has expensive tastes so won't wear a cheap scarf for example. Budget about £30. Any ideas please?

My favourite gift , when I reached 60 was a Fortnums hamper from DH
I know that it cost well over £30 , so doesn’t really answer the question
but a box of biscuits / tea in a caddy / fruit cake individually would fit the bill
They deliver ( or use a delivery service ) and cheeses etc can be delivered with in a certain area
My 60th was in the first lockdown , and we live in Wales , so everything I had was posted or delivered

Similar age. Disagree re vouchers not being a present. I love a facial, massage, pedicure or manicure but rarely treat myself, so a voucher for my local salon would be very welcome.

As people's time is so precious, I'd really appreciate an invitation to afternoon tea or lunch out. Preferably not a voucher for a specific place, a written invitation in her card would suffice then you can choose together where you go.

If she has a garden (and there is space), a shrub will last longer than flowers, or something in a pot that will withstand winter.

Personally I would love a matching shower gel and body lotion but I'm not overly fussy, some of my friends only use certain products and. would immediately donate anything else.

I also love candles but there are so many people who don't, i tend not to buy them as gifts apart from one friend who always asks for a new candle!

Not for your friend as she doesn't drink, but for anyone looking here for ideas, I'd always welcome a bottle of gin!

Liking the rose bush idea - something that can evoke nice friendship memories. Some other great ideas too thanks. I'm nearly there myself so have picked up some ideas here to drop hints to dh.

David Austin roses are great - look up their website - lots of different ones to choose from for small gardens to large ones.

The only issue with garden plants is that the recipient may not have an appropriate place to plant it. So I think if I was wanting to give a plant I'd either check, or else make sure it was something that could be grown in a container.

Have ordered a friendship rose from David Austin roses @Blueberrycreampie and it can be delivered quickly too. She has a fairly good sized garden so will hopefully like it.

Sounds ideal must look it up - is it a bare root?

Turmerictolly · 14/11/2023 13:55

No, potted with gift wrap but they also send bare root ones (a bit cheaper too),

I was going to suggest something for her garden. David Austin roses are my favourite. She'll love it, and it's a lovely memory for her birthday.

That's a beautiful present.

I think making your own voucher with a “walk and afternoon tea” offer, or “gallery and bistro lunch” would be lovely.

I love this.

A friend spending time to take me for coffee and a cake would be very much appreciated.

A dear pal of mine gave me a David Austin shrub rose for my 40th. The plant didn’t get the memo that it’s only meant to be a shrub and takes giant pride of place in my garden and I think of her regularly and it’s a good reminder to call her / send photos of it in full bloom each year

DisruptiveCumin · 15/11/2023 10:31

Maybe take her out for lunch or a nice dinner? If there is a store she specifically likes, you can get her a gift certificate to this one. SPA or nail salon certificate if she likes that!
Do you have photos of her or maybe both of you together? You can make a birthday video using them and add her favorite song in there or record your birthday wishes and add a voiceover to the video.
