Suggestions for celebration restaurant in Cardiff

DH and I are staying in Cardiff for a few days in December. It's near my birthday so I would like a good meal (dinner) to celebrate. We like most cuisines and decent portion sizes. Locally sourced ingredients would be great. No allergies or dietary preferences. Any recommendations?

Pasture - meat focus, excellent locally sourced food.

Thomas - as above. Lovely Welsh flavour.

Heaneys’s

Think you’ll probably escape the often gruesome ‘Christmas Menu’ with all three too!

We have just visited and were recommended a lovely small low key place called Poca. It was small plates of locally sourced food, but you can fill up ordering a loads of plates. It wasn’t grand or extravagant , but stylish, low key beautiful food.

My mate recommended:
The two Ivys (regular and Asia),
Giggling Squid
Nook
Pasture (meaty glory)
Thomas Simmonds

Heaneys

Asador 44

Cafe Citta (small and chilled but the food is excellent!)

La Monde - a Cardiff staple with lots of fresh fish and meat to choose from.

Six by Nico

Not been to Tom Simmons but heard good things. It’s just outside of Cardiff city centre though. It’s in the same area as Heaneys and would recommend that so wouldn’t necessarily discount it!

What's your budget? If fancy, defo recommend Home by James sommerin, slightly outside cardiff but easy to get to on the train. It's amazing.

Curado

Cafe Citta isn't somewhere I recommend for a celebration, great as it is.
Heaney's and Tom Simmons would be great, you'll want a taxi although there are plenty of buses.

City centre - lovely Italian restaurant:

Thanks for all the suggestions - I will follow them up. Definitely don't want a Christmas menu!
