Why do horses get coats and cows don't?

Today I was driving in the pouring rain past a horse field, and they were all, bar one, wearing coats. Then there was a cow field, obviously no coats.

Which led me to wonder why some animals get coats and others don't. Who decided that horses need coats, and why? Was the coatless horse just like a cool teen who will not wear a coat however much you tell them to, or a rock-hard horse who doesn't actually need one?

Why do some dogs get coats and others not? Did they try to sell coats for cats but cats said no way?

Horses have better union representation.

yes I know should be syllables on the last line... couldn't get there.

the farm animals really need to be band together SGCPC unite! (Sheep, goats cows, pigs, chickens).

Cats being masters don’t need unions and the cat slaves probably don’t have the energy to organise.

It is a shame this post is going to go poof. Perhaps it should be moved into the tackroom or something.

I don’t tend to wear coats in winter as I’m quite hardcore, and also have sensory issues.

Still fat. Doesn’t work on humans.
