Constant pain in lower right abdomen/hip area

Has anyone had this? It’s driving me mad.

Stitch like pain in my right lower abdomen (near hip) and back ache. Awaiting a referral for an ultrasound as GP thinks could be a cyst but I’m not convinced as I don’t have any other symptoms!

Had it six weeks now. Anyone had an ovarian cyst with similar symptoms? Or anything else? Painkillers help but boy do I know as soon as they’ve worn off!

Could be inside... Or could it be outside? - eg the illipsoas muscles go through from the lower back through the front inside hip, other hip muscles can cause pain up through the stomach.

My hip is bonkers tight these days and it really goes up my back too (compensating, I'm told).

There are various stretches for the illipsoas, eg a kneeling lunge one, or a physio can do it by stretching your leg back and up (whilst you are on your front).

I have similar and it’s tendinitis in my hip

Ive had this on and off for a year now (more off than on!). I'm convinced it is digestive and my friend now has it too shortly after having a colonoscopy with several biopsies.

Honestly, I’m pretty convinced it’s bowel related. I’ve had symptoms for 3 years but never sent for a colonoscopy.

No bleeding or anything so I guess the GP isn’t overly concerned, but the new pain and back ache is a little worrying! She just suggested it was more likely a cyst due to location…

Thank you! It definitely feels in my fleshy part though rather than my hip if that makes sense. Sorry your body is being an asshole to you too.

Hopefully you get it sorted :-)

How old are you? what kind of bowel symptoms are you experiencing, and how often? Have you had a FIT test to check for blood in your stools?

General pain and loose stools. Pretty much daily. Had FIT 2 years ago and completely clear. Blood tests for coeliac, inflammation, IBD indicators etc also clear. I’m 38

With my cyst I didn't have any symptoms until it twisted and I went to a&e!

PaminaMozart · 12/10/2023 23:29

Hopefully the ultrasound will provide some clarity, but no harm in getting another FIT done.

Are you eating a healthy, Mediterranean style diet? Have you tried increasing your consumption of vegetables and perhaps adding something like Metamucil to your diet?

Retta1809 · 09/12/2023 17:32

@Minfilia have you had your scan?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I had the scan and unsurprisingly it showed nothing!

Still no change really. Had a lot of life stresses lately so I’ve put it to one side but need to contact GP for more tests when I can.

@Minfilia any update

Lurkingandlearning · 12/12/2024 09:44

Th sounds similar to when I needed my appendix removed. Have a look on NHS website for appendicitis symptoms

@Minfilia any update

Nope! Not a meaningful one anyway.

I had another round of blood tests 6 weeks ago and another physical exam and nothing. Because that’s all clear and I’ve had IBS symptoms for years I’ve been told to go away and go back if it gets worse 🤷‍♀️

Sorry to hear that you are still struggling.

Have you tried eating a healthy Mediterranean style diet and taking psyllium husk?

Deedoo · 12/12/2024 10:55

@@Minfilia thats so unfair and how did they rule out your appendix

Deedoo · 12/12/2024 11:06

@PaminaMozart what is that

Deedoo · 12/12/2024 11:06

@do you get back pain with that and upper gas

PaminaMozart · 12/12/2024 12:36

Psyllium husk is a natural fibre supplement that can support with bowel regularity...
