What’s Happening In Your House?

Doing another of these threads but I love them! Hope everyone’s Saturday is going well so far. Mine started badly as I had the most horrendous pain ( partly lower back & partly period pain, even though I shouldn’t still be getting periods as I’m going through the menopause). I really didn’t know where to put myself. Have had bleeds before & polyps or fibroids were to blame. Tempted to ask for a hysterectomy if it keeps happening. I was all set to call in sick but a combination of Zapain & ibuprofen has worked wonders. Working a 4 hour shift today. I was up about 5.30 so heard the dawn chorus & saw the sunrise. The early morning sky was beautiful & the crescent moon & ( I think) Venus were very clear. Loved watching the bunnies chilling out & giving each other a wash. They are mega cute. Need to feed them soon & let 2 of them out. I might have cold pizza for breakfast. DH on his phone in bed as he doesn’t start work til 11. He finishes at 5 then soon after we’re going to pick up DD14 from her girlfriend’s. Hoping to find a services with a Burger King for tea on the way. Always preferred BK to Maccies but our nearest one is about 14 miles away.

Ah, sorry OP, for us we're just trying to remain still and sweat as little as possible!

@RabbitsRock

Good morning

Well, yesterday had the plasterers in. Then the frigging washing machine packed up!

But the sun is shining, my cat and dog are sprawled out together in a shady part of the garden and I'm sat outside with a cup of tea.

Hope you're feeling better and you got your BK

Got back late last night, so we are having a lazy costa delivery and watching Takeshis Castle, the teen dds are now warming to the format.

Just seen this.. yesterday evening spent in the garden with a roaring fire pit chatting (just me and the boys). This morning.. bacon sandwiches all round.. more gardening to do maybe a walk down to the beach hut later this afternoon. Trying to enjoy what summer we have left 🤣

My husband is going to take 15 year old to Costco to get some stuff when it opens; I'm staying here as 12 year old has his first bar mitzvah lesson (on Zoom) this morning to start learning the bits he needs to know for the service in a year's time. I put some laundry on to run early this morning and have just hung it out.

There's another thread already!
I answered on that but happy to contribute to yours.
Boiler guy here as we've had no hot water since Wednesday (cold showers, even in this heat, are not enjoyable)! Plus the dishwasher doesn't work without a hot feed.
I've had breakfast and tidied up and fancy another cuppa now.
Daughter still in bed and I don't expect to see her much. We did Bristol university Open day yesterday - three hours there and back plus it's a very hilly city and I almost expired in this heat! My daughter liked her sample lecture but felt the uni too spread out, no heart to the place. I think she'd like a campus uni. So we are feeling stiff and tired and this heat doesn't invite much energetic activity! So not anticipating doing much today (maybe a hot shower later 😁).

Yesterday was very busy as we had a family Christening so saw lots of relatives and popped several bottles of champers so we are in recovery this morning.

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/09/2023 10:50

@rockingbird Fire pit? I’m guessing you’re not in a part of the U.K. sweltering right now?

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/09/2023 10:50

Anyone else taking cold showers in the night?

Ratfinkstinkypink · 10/09/2023 11:01

My day started at 23.45 last night when the small person woke, he did nap again just after 9 this morning for about 45 minutes and we are now in the garden, I am in the hammock and he's in his comfy chair with his feed running (he's fed via a tube into his tummy). He's not in the best mood but can't tell me why (non verbal). I could cry, I regularly only get 3-4 hours sleep but last night was brutal. Even if he does sleep I still need to do overnight medications, turn him and manage his feed (which also runs overnight) so all this "sleep when they sleep doesn't work). Later we should be going to a friend's house for a catch up and a coffee.

@Ratfinkstinkypink That sounds tough. Hope you can get some respite to get a proper sleep soon.

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/09/2023 11:06

And I’ve cried over far less so let it flow!

Thank you. I now suspect his grumpiness was pain/discomfort somewhere, I had just popped some paracetamol down his tube before I wrote my post and he has perked right up. He is currently doing his happy dance in his chair while he's squealing along to his Hey Duggee songs. What I wouldn't give for him to be able to have some way of communicating 'yes' and 'no', it would give him so much control over his life.
