So I have a Samsung Flip (they're super fragile and not worth it, but very cool).

Long story short Samsung has a VERY strict warranty policy and won't fix them if they have any external damage (which includes removing the screen protector, or a minor scratch). My screen stopped working and I thought they wouldn't cover it, but alas they did fix it!

In the interim I bought a pixel 6a for £300.

My Samsung is only 9 months old.

If I sell the Samsung, I'd get back around £400, if I sell the pixel around £150.

The Samsung thanks to a bunch of offers and cash back ended up costing me around £700.

So which one do I sell/keep?

So you've, in total, spent £1,000 on phones. One which has proven to be unreliable and manufactured by a company who are picky about whether they'll fix said unreliability; you don't seem to have a strong desire to keep it and it'd fetch more money back than one I'm going to imagine, due to lack of a folding screen, is more reliable in the sense of randomly stopping working.

Unless there's a huge benefit to keeping the Samsung (amazing camera that you use all the time/use it to work on/etc), I'd sell it and get more money back.

Sell them both and get an iPhone!

I've had two pixels before this one, and quite frankly they're super reliable.

I promised never to buy a gimmicky phone again after this Samsung fiasco. I got really lucky with the repair.

And no, apart from its "coolness" factor (and a bit of a sunk cost fallacy) there's no real desire to keep the Samsung.

Sell the Samsung & promise to smack yourself upside the head before you give into 'cool' but useless new tech in future

Certainlyreally · 05/09/2023 14:11

I would sell the Samsung as its likely to break again in the future

They are restrictive you cannot just plug them in to your pc and use in the same way as you can with androids , you cant share charging leads etc, horrible things

OnAMidnightTrainToGeorgia · 05/09/2023 14:53

Can't share charging leads?

Can't plug into pc?

Er....you can!

Pedallleur · 05/09/2023 14:53

Sell the samsung while it has value.

We've all done it, with something, tech or pricey handbag, another dog, another horse 🙄🤭etc, etc. You are learning expensive way. So hopefully won't repeat. Get it sold before it breaks again 👍🏻

Do Iphones use usb C (or micro chargers then?)

Certainlyreally · 05/09/2023 18:13

Dont iphones use 'lightening' chargers?

WhyHasAllTheRumGone · 05/09/2023 18:22

Keep the pixel. I have one. I love it. It has the most amazing camera. I bought it to replace my pixel 2 which lasted for four years until I dropped it on a curb.
