Is it only Coca Cola that doesn’t have artificial sweetener in?

I had some Pepsi cola the other day - tasted awful. It wasn’t the diet one. It now contains artificial sweetener.
Is Coca cola the only fizzy drink that doesn’t contain sweeteners now?
I used to love Pepsi!

Appletiser but not really the same level...

Greens is aspartame free

alpenguin · 05/09/2023 12:50

Draft Pepsi is still full sugar so far just not the cans and bottles.

irn bru 1901 is safe too but it’s not as good as the old bru pre-sweetners.

I have a severe reaction to aspartame and acesulfame so it’s really restricting what I can drink & eat when out these days.

Oh, I did the same the other day. I used to love it but don’t drink it very often now. Had a bottle and had to throw it away. Didn’t twig why.

Apparently you can order a San Pellegrino version online with just sugar, and I believe Roses lime cordial has sugar.
Otherwise just Coke and the ones the PP has mentioned.

I never thought about this til I got into a conversation with someone who cares about it over the summer and now I can really taste the sweeteners in all the other drinks!

Appetiser, bottle green, Cawstons and karma cola are all free of artificial sweeteners or stevia. Some purdeys but varies. Fentimans have started adding stevia, yuck!

BarbaraofSeville · 05/09/2023 12:56

The choice is very much reduced. Some smaller producers are sweetener free, eg Cawston Press, Fever Tree, but you really have to read every label and not rely on it being the same as last time, eg I think Fentimans are now using sweeteners. There are one or two artisan brands producing sweetener free cola but you'll need to track it down and it's usually only available in naice farm shop type places.

Very very frustrating.

Oh and Fritz cola is safe but they cut their sugar content quite a bit

BarbaraofSeville · 05/09/2023 12:58

Karma cola, that's it. Also, you have to keep an eye out for products who claim to 'not have artificial sweeteners in' but then use Stevia, which tastes disgusting. Also to not mistake Sucralose for sucrose.

Used to love Pepsi, unfortunately can't have it anymore as I'm intolerant to sweeteners (and find they taste vile)
I'm trying to find any other refreshing drinks that don't have sweeteners, so any recommendations welcomed!

I was saying the same thing yesterday! Had a bottle of Pepsi and tasted artificial; although I didn’t look at whether it has sweetners. I haven’t drank it and went and bought Coke. I’d rather pay the extra.

Have a look in Home Bargains, they sell American drinks now and none of those contain artificial sweetener unless they are specifically diet. The Strawberry Fanta is out of this world.

Also, have a look at SOS Save Our Sugar on Facebook, they find and post good, sweetener free food and drink on there and are always excellent with warnings of recipe changes etc.

Jadegreenbeen · 23/06/2025 20:26

Roses lime cordial and soda. No fake stuff

Iloveeverycat · 23/06/2025 20:36

I can't drink anything with sweetners in it tastes awful. All lemonades seem to contain sweetners now. Sainsburys used to do a classic lemonade but they have stopped doing it.
